|Twenty-five years ago a friend told me she had a new hobby, genealogy, and how much fun she was having. I immediately contacted my mother who informed me that we owned six family Bibles. I have been deep into this ever since. I started with my mother's family in Loudoun County, VA. Her parents were third cousins, a fact she did not know. Of course I added my father's family, my husband's family, and both my daughter-in-law's and son-in-law's families. Then by adding wives, mothers, sisters, brothers, ancestors, descendants, I have ended up with a database of about 37,000. All are related to me or to someone I am related to. |
Most of my time has been spent in Loudoun County, Virginia. I wrote two books on Union Cemetery in Leesburg, a book on Monocacy Cemetery in Bealsville, Montgomery County, MD, Death Records of Fairfax County, VA, and co-authored books on the Death Records of Loudoun County, VA and Marriages after 1850 in Loudoun County, Va. I have also been involved in the preparation of Cemetery Books published by Thomas Balch Library. All of these books are available through Heritage Books.
I am more than happy to share any information I have. My cemetery pictures are there for anyone who needs them. They have been taken over the last 19 years. I will ask that you let me know if you are using a family picture because that means you are probably at least a cousin and I want to know you.
If you see errors, please let me know. Let's get all these people linked! But PLEASE everyone, use the Edit button on the memorial that needs changing! It takes about 2 minutes to make changes using that button. It can take 1/2 an hour or more to find the memorial you would like changed, if you don't use that button, and often I cannot be sure if I am looking at the correct person even then. In that case I may spend an hour or more looking. That takes away from someone else's time. Be fair!

There are three memorials for Emory H. Trussell.
Your memorial is not the original, could you please merge it with the original #21829305.

|Krista AQ & Tommy Thompson||Davis DeFrain|
Hi, Betty! It's been a while since I've heard from you! I hope you're well!
I'll be glad to delete, but think you should know (you probably already DO know, in fact) that Congressional's records have Davis and Rose (whose memorial you hold) as "DeFrain," which means the next person who refers to those records will recreate the memorial because the name on the records won't show in a search on Find A Grave. I'm not sure how to handle that. A photo of the stone would clear it up, but, sadly, I don't have one.
Thanks for the heads up!

Thank you very much for the transfer.

Betty-I'm always interested in this line and have searched for Elizabeth Jacobs, Hipkins, Hammerly's maiden name for many years without success. She bought a burial plot in Union Cemetery and buried her son, Jacob T. Jacobs, there. I have yet to find a listing for her burial anyplace. Any help is always appreciated. Thanks, Donna
Thanks for processing it very quickly. Very kind of you. Ed

Hee- Hee He is buried at Union # 50184276
Believe he was never married
|John Blakemore Sellers||Belmont Plantation Cemetery|
This is the second plantation cemetery was was not disclosed. I have photo requests in for the burials and suspect that they should be taken care of. A pretty pricey area with the now Country Club and a Whole Foods within sight. I hope that there are FA Contributors within a reasonable distance of the historic cemetery.

Thank you. I have never had the problem of being told to leave but then I have only done smaller cemeteries.
|Dana Dancy||Persis M. (Marti) Kroutil (memorial #135109549)|
Hi! I have a question - I am wondering if her mother Lillian "Lillie" (Loeffler) Marti is actually buried in the same cemetery [Gate of Heaven cemetery] as Persis Kroutil (memorial #135109549) - Lillie B. Marti (Memorial# 135112532). I saw you took the photos of both gravestones and was hoping you remembered if they were near each other.
The reason I am asking is because their is not a DOD engraved at her gravestone in Kochville, Michigan (Memorial #50359901). Both memorials have the DOB 1894 and family trees list she died 20 May 1989 in Maryland [no documentation to back it up].
I did find a Social Security Death Index -
"Lillie B Marti, SSN #216-46-0321
Born:20 Jan 1894 /Died: 20 May 1989
State (Year) SSN issued
Maryland - 1962"
Thank you for all you do at Find A Grave
