Bio and Links
Bio Photo "Look toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them." Then he said to him, "So shall your descendants be."
Genesis 15:5

"It is sad when one has to paint a dark picture of another in order to paint a "perfect" picture of themselves."

A short Bio: I've been involved in Genealogy for 40 years. It's been exciting traveling to different states, visiting court houses, libraries, cemeteries. Finding links to tie my family together. I have documented my family back to the 1640's. I value each piece of documentation I've acquired over 40 years. I also value everyone I've met during my research. We've remained lifelong friends. Respect, given & received is very important in Genealogy. I've been a FAG member for over thirteen years. I've worked with many wonderful people in that time. I've met a lot of you at cemeteries. I'm retired & FAG fills a lot of days & evenings when I'm not enjoying the company of my family who are very dear to me.

I don't condemn for the amount of memorials a member has. I'm proud of those that transcribe or take pictures & creates the memorial. I know the hard work it takes to photo cemeteries. I've photographed over 69,000 head stone's myself & walked many a cemetery to get those pictures. I applaud you!!

No one on FAG has more authority than another. When I work in a cemetery, either my husband or I have relatives interred there. No one is in charge but the curator's of Find A Grave. I don't understand why people can't work together as a team. Thank goodness some of us still do.

***Per FAG: You manage the memorial's you've created but you do not own them. They belong to Find A Grave.

Edits: I gladly accept edits. A thank you goes to those with reliable edits that I know I don't have to verify. Everyone has their own way here. I'm not changing my way for anyone. I'm a very active member. Find A Grave is aware of this.

***Per Find A Grave:

"We have a soft limit of 40 edits per week over the edit tab and a limit of 20 edits per week over "suggest a correction". Plus 21 days to complete them."

Find A Grave Policy: No harassment/bullying! Respect is expected at all times in the spirit of Find A Grave. If you are being bullied report immediately to FAG curator's. Take a snap shot. They can't lie their way out of that. If enough members file a complaint with the snap shot the member will eventually be notified of their actions. No cut out obits in the picture section, no names of the living in obits. No obit photo's, they are not mine or taken by me. If I find cut out obits in the picture section they are removed. Death Certificates are welcome. No posting of memorials of the living. I follow Find A Grave rules. They were made for a reason.

Linking, Transfers, Biography, Duplicates: I find it important to link families in death as they were in life. If I haven't linked yet, I haven't gotten to them. Find A Grave once said they'd like the cemeteries to open like a book. This is what I strive for. I transfer memorials to those requesting transfers unless they are family or a close friend. I believe in working together & sharing my work. I try to add info to this section. If you send additions, I give credit to the sender. Obituaries or any kind of history is welcome. I welcome notifications for duplicates. They are not intentional. I take them off without hesitation. Find A Grave frowns upon duplication of memorials. As a rule, if I find a duplicate, I advise "duplicate" with memorial numbers of "both" memorials. Nothing else is required per Find A Grave. After all, I am not perfect, and neither are you. I think nothing of removing them.

Pictures: You're welcome to use my photo's. Credit is not needed. I see many of my pics on Ancestry which is fine. I'm not a glory seeker. I'm dedicated to Find A Grave but it does not define me. Find A Grave advises if a photo has been posted to memorials I manage, I still have a right to post mine. They advise no one has a right to expect theirs to be exclusive. I don't expect mine to be exclusive on memorials not managed by me. It's a privilege to post to memorials managed by others. Do not abuse that privilege. I take pride in my photo's. I've cleaned stone's for many years. We also weed around them. Unfortunately if I cleaned & weeded every one, I'd not be able to walk the next day. For years I've talked with trustee's who were happy someone cared. Water, a soft rag or soft brush does the job. Please no chalking. This is not "illegal" but causes damage to old stones. If you see chalking in my photo's, they were sent to me to post by a cousin. I take photo's on sunny days & no snow on the ground & I try to center each photo. I get lot's of requests to take picture's for genealogy purposes. I'm always glad to help those working on their family history.

1906 by Walter Butler Palmer

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.

It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.
