Sorry, no relation to any Styers.
I'm not sure what you mean. I have William French (my 3x great grand father) married to Nancy Tidings. William and Nancy's 7th child was G. W. French who was married to Mary A. Green. William's father was Dominick French. Dominick was a butcher, as was William too I believe, near the inner harbor of Baltimore. Some of William's sons continued in that trade.
Dominick also had a brother named William. William's Great Grand Son Jesse Thomas McCartney also made an application to join the SAR linking to Martin French Jesse's 2x Great Grand Father.
I think that I have seen one other application to the SAR linking to Martin French. I can't remember who that was right now.

Sounds like I should thank you for the fact that so many of the Cockeys and Owingses in St. Thomas already have a gravestone photo. Thank you. I went thru those names in St. Thomas since you asked, and I requested a photo for any that didn't have one. In at least one case, there probably is none and a notation could be added in Find A Grave. Have a wonderful time, though that sounds odd when talking about a cemetery.

Hi, Sharon. I'm not quite sure what you are asking, but I'm guessing that you are talking about some photo requests I made some time back. I have not personally visited any graveyard on the East Coast as I live in California. I notice that there are tons of Owings and Cockey family members at St. Thomas. The ones who are in my family tree that I spot-checked on FindaGrave do not have any associated photos. If you are thinking of heading that way, camera in hand, would it help for me to identify the ones without a photo and add them to my list? The alternative would be to photograph every Owings or Cockey you come upon, then figure out which are useful to contribute. I'm so proud of you for being a FindaGrave volunteer. The website has been an invaluable resource for me.

WE WERE ABLE TO LOCATE AND PHOTO 10 SITES TODAY. JIM GODFREY IS GOING THIS WEEKEND TO SEE HOW MANY HE CAN GET. FEEL FREE TO TRY AND LOCATE ANY OF THE REST. WE WHERE CHASED OFF BY THE SPRINKLERS ON A COUPLE AND THERE WERE THREE WE THINK ARE UNMARKED. THEY PROBABLY DESERVE ONE MORE SET OF EYES LOOKING FOR THEM.

YOU CLAIMED THIS PHOTO. THE CEMETERY SAYS THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF HER. YOU MIGHT WANT TO DOUBLE CHECK WITH THEM AND IF SHE IS NOT THERE, CLOSE THE OPEN REQUEST. I AM GOING TO THE CEMETERY ON THURSDAY AND GET AS MANY OF THE OPEN REQUESTS THAT WE CAN LOCATE.

I'm sorry Sharon. The only information I have is the listing on F.A.G. showing she is buried in the Mountain Meadows Memorial Park and Crematory and her husband was David (1920-2006). Thanks for you help.

Yes, Sharon. Funny, my grandfather's middle name was Johnston. He was Huston Johnston Mattson. Also, he married Jennie M. Peterson (my grandmother), who was also from Cecil county, Maryland. Are you connected?
