Please contact me if I can correct or add anything in my managed memorials, or link them to any others. |
If I have built a memorial for your direct ancestor, not mine, I'm happy to transfer it to you to maintain and link. I'll have indicated in the "flowers" what my relationship is if it's direct.
Currently I'm only building memorials and posting information for my own direct ancestors and their corollary lines.

|Stanley Shepard||Jerusha Harmon Powers|
I got her death date from combining 10 tress on ancestery.com. One tree Stull Family Tree Oener:Billstull1 listed were she died whent to his tree but shows no record where she died. He had one story that I listed below
Jerusha, 19, filed suit in 1762 against William Angell Jr., 20, accusing him of fathering her bastard child. The court's decision favored the defendant, and Jerusha was ordered to pay court costs. A year later, she sued Angell again, filing this suit under the aegis of her father, Samuel Powers. In her second suit, Jerusha claimed that Angell initially had promised to marry her and later paid her an inducement to withdraw her legal action while renewing his promise of marriage. Angell told the court that he had paid Jerusha 30 pounds to release him from any obligation for the child. Jerusha responded that she was under age 21 at the time she made the bargain and was not bound by it. Samuel Powers told the court that he had not consented to his daughter's agreement, and he returned the money to Angell. The court decided in favor of Jerusha and ordered Angell to pay child support.
Soon after this legal battle, Jerusha and Angell married and raised a family. Had they lived in the era of reality TV, the couple might have had a chance to turn this spectacle into a potful of money.
Nancy Hathaway Steenburg reports on this court case in her book, Children and the criminal law in Connecticut, 1635-1855: changing perceptions of childhood. Routledge 2005. p. 116.

Pictures have been removed as requested. We will just hope another person doesn't come along in a volunteer project and take another pic as the tombstone, and foot stone for both are still there. It makes me wonder how many other bodies might have been removed and still have a headstone in place. It is all so uncanny that the markers were not removed. I am glad you were able to find the interment records that show they were.

Thank you for the clarification.
|Sheila Bowyer Kline||RE: Mustard mystery|
I can't find a listing for the Maple Park Cemetery to check for interment records so I am thinking the historical society might maintain the records.
There is one project I found with this link:
that has a plot plan for it and a phone # listed for the planners of the project so a phone call to them might tell how to get interment records.
The stone for your grandmother and husband is leaning against a tree and appears not solid which makes me speculate if it could have been moved and then reset. Can you note this in the photo posted?
|Sheila Bowyer Kline||RE: Mary Ewald Mustard|
Correction - it is Chester Henry's stone that is shown for Monte Vista! Sorry about that.
|Sheila Bowyer Kline||RE: Mary Ewald Mustard|
This is all very interesting indeed! All I can say is that there is a headstone as shown on Charles Henry Mustard and Mary Ewald Mustard in Maple Park Cemetery. I note that there is a Charles Henry Mustard's stone also listed and shown in Monte Vista.
We are local and perhaps can get to Monte Vista to check for you. This is indeed a mystery! Perhaps just the stone is left there, but it is indeed there!
We'll stay in touch.
|Sheila Bowyer Kline||Cemetery for Mary Ewald Mustard|
I just sent you a note for birth date correction for Mary Ewald Mustard, wife of Charles Henry Mustard. She is also listed in the wrong cemetery.
Her name is on stone with Charles Henry in Maple Park Cemetery, Bluefield, Mercer County, WV.
