Oh - and her birthdate is July 22 and not July 20. Just FYI. Thanks!

In the description Ora's death year is listed as 1930. Her headstone says 1950. Should that be updated?

Hi, I am trying to get as much of my family under me as I can and I was wondering if you would mind sending me Guy Lee Moore? He is my Great Uncle. I have a lot of info about him and would like to put it together.
Thank you for your time

Perfect timing. I'm actually walking right out of Locust field right this second as I wanted to stop by and get some morning pictures for the website at www.locustfieldcemetery.com
Again, thank you very much for these transfers, I appreciate it more than you can ever imagine

|William Brent Holland||Locust Field|
All my life I have walked passed these graves at Locust field in order to get to "my family" plot down at the bottom half.
After doing the AncestryDNA and premium subscription research tools, I have learned that while all my life I may have THOUGHT that my family was just down in the valley part of the Cemetery, I in fact have shared ancestry with most everyone in there going back to Ambrose Pharr.
Now I know that probably half of Canton is an offspring of good old Ambrose. But, a month ago, I had no clue that he even existed. The stones were always those of "strangers" except for my "family" that I knew.
But, thanks to people like you, I have been able to make connections that I never dreamed possible; like reading about Ambrose leaving this world intestate and probate hearing after probate hearing FINALLY having his estate settled... (I never really knew HOW my family ended up in Locust Field.. nor did it even cross my mind.....But, luckily, I guess one of those jury trials ended up making sure that pretty much all of his kids, and his widow, got some space in there... and the rest is history).. But now, it is like the place is a part of by very fiber. (that 106 page probate file reads better than anything that is on DirecTV these days).
What were countless headstones of "strangers" are now countless headstones of unique parts of my family that make me wonder how in the world my parents, or grandparents did not know all these relatives were there.
(But, then again, I guess they did not have the benefit of the Internet, DNA testing, etc...)
Either that, or that fight for everything Ambrose owned (except for the good sense to make a Last Will) was so bitter that brothers and sisters just ended up not talking to each other.... (and as Pat Smathers told me last week, it only takes about 2 or 3 generations for something to be totally forgotten and lost).... (just like the deed to our family plot I might add).
Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for transferring those memorials to me that I have requested... I am sure I will be making more of those requests as more and more pieces fall in to place. (I am pretty much on pins and needles to find out if my Aunt Cordelia "Tine" Clark Holland is actually in that spot beside Wm. Judson Holland)... I dont know... my FEELING is that she is not. We will see. (As you may see, I have also uploaded a photo of Wm. Judson Holland)... who I did not even know existed last week, much less of his father off and died in the Civil War and being buried up in Dinwiddle Virginia.)...
But yes, my money is that "Tine Clark" is not there. I know I could have the funeral home come out and check just like they did a couple weeks ago for me to determine how much room we had left... But that would be cheating.
(Which I also recently found true of my Aunt Margaret (wife of Eston Holland in Locust Field down near our plot)... all my life I DID hear about Uncle Eck.. but never specifics.... but, come to find out, when he died, my Aunt Margaret was young and a few years later remarried... when she died, her husband of almost 50 years had her buried in West Asheville... (I had always assumed "Margaret" was beside my Uncle and just no one had ever updated the tombstone... But, through that DNA testing, I had the pleasure yesterday of meeting and sitting with my 83 year old cousin and the only child of those brief years that Margaret and Eston were married. So, I got to learn a lot about her dad, her mom, and how her mothers wishes were to be buried in Locust Field beside Eston. (Which I will make a reality).
Anyway... I just wanted to say thank you for your countless hours that you have spent doing things like this.
I fully intend start pulling my weight so to say.
I am bound and determined to find out all I can about these folks of mine who gave so much and were not even a thought in my mind.
So, if you at any time in the future want someone to start managing more of the Locust Field memorials.... please keep me in mind as they will not ever be in better custody and constant state of updating.
Very Cordially Yours,
W. Brent Holland.
