If I don't respond to a request for transfer it means I prefer to retain the memorial.

In the event a photo of a headstone is not included, it generally means that the memorial information was taken from a cemetery transcription or death record. One of those who did the transcription was Elizabeth C. Curtis. Without her efforts cemeteries such as Trinity United Methodist and Old Third Central Presbyterian Cemetery records would not be included or available since neither of the above church exists today, including the cemetery and headstones. I found out on January 21, 2010 that internment's of Old Third Central Presbyterian Church Cemetery have been moved to Riverview Memorial cemetery in Charleston.

Some of the headstones at the Circular Church were impossible to read, however the church had previously documented many of the graves sites by plot #'s. In those cases where I could not read the headstone I used the information from the church records found at the Charleston library to identify the headstones. I did list the plots #'s on the majority of the memorials.

A special thanks to the work of Clare Jervey published in 1906 with the transcription of St. Michael's. Her transcription allowed me to include much that was unreadable.

Hi Saratoga,

I received your suggested edits (date and place of death, maiden name) for the memorials above. Would you please provide the source(s) of your information?

Thank you for keeping Find A Grave an accurate and valuable genealogical tool!

Laura

PS: If you are related to Harvey and Charlotte, please let me know how. I would be happy to transfer their memorials to a family member.

RE: Morris
No problem! The older stones are so difficult. Your picture is very good!

It is tough! It looks like it says

Lillie Daisy
wife of F.L. Morris

on the one that was created later.

I didn't see any stone for an F.L. Morris though...

Francis Lance B. 1877 D. 1877 (more information)
Francis Lance is related to my family. ( Source Read-Lance Family Papers 1677-1865, Georgetown District, S.C.)

Colonel Francis Bremar Lance was the son of Lawyer and Colonel Lambert Lance, b. 1758, d. 1804, and Lambert's second wife, Sarah Harvey. Francis Lance's grandparents were Lambert Lance (from England) and Mary Gough St. John. Francis Lance's siblings: Reverend Maurice Harvey Lance, (rector of Prince George Winyah) b. 1793, d. 1793, d. 1870, Sarah Louisa Lance b. 1787 - d. 1873 , Lambert Gough Lance. b. 1785, d.1801, William Lance and Lucien Lance.

Colonel Francis Lance was a broker, Member of the 42nd General Assembly 1856-1857, and slaveholder, Charleston, South Carolina. Slave Schedules 1850 and 1860 are present for Francis Lance. Plantations associated with the Lance family are: Smerden, Sandy Island Tract, Maurcena aka. Springfield, Runnymeade, Mansfield, Wedgefield, Belle Rive and Maryville. Most were rice plantations in 1842. The Read and Lance family papers, all of whom are relatives in 1732-1907, are in the microfilm edition of "Records of Southern Plantations from Emancipation to the Great Migration", Series C, Part 2.

His second wife, was Elizabeth Ball Styles. He had at least three sons: Dr. F. Lambert Lance b. 1822- d 1856 (source grave records), F.B. Lance (source 1850 Census), and Lt. Archibald St. John Lance, d. 1861 (source Civil War Records).

Two of Lance's brothers: William and Lucien Lance, petitioned the court to help keep free people of color free, and not driven from the state, in Charleston, S.C. William Lance was a guardian to Jehu Jones, black abolitionist and hotelier (source S.C.Historical Society).

Theodore Trezevant - as you can see, Catherine Timothy was not the mother of Sarah Ann. Her Mother was Catherine Crouch, the 3rd wife of Theodore, according to: "Daniel Trezevant, Huguenot, & Some of his Descendants" by A. S. Salley, Jr.; first published in SCHM 3; SC Genealogies Book 4 page 324 - 327:
Parents: Abraham & Ann Crouch
Thank you for Sarah Ann's 2nd marriage. I do not have proof but I believe that Nicholas Cruger was 1st married to Ann Markoe & they had a daughter Sarah Cruger who married William Heyward.

Welcome Geer Hitchcock, Bronx NY
Good Morning,

Thank you for transferring the Welcome Geer Hitchcock Memorial to our family. It is much appreciated. Only after sending the request did I notice that I left out Francelia A. Hitchcock (#135453493) from my request for transfer. She is interred along with Welcome in the same lot at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx. I can only hope that I haven't missed others.

Again, thanks for the transfer of Welcomes's Memorial and I appreciate your consideration of a transfer of the Francelia A. Hitchcock memorial as well.

I see that you have recorded 54,670 memorials for the families of those who have passed. Thank you for helping me and all the other family members with finding loved ones.
