I am interested in the family history of my family & my husband's family.(I am originally from Adams,MN & he is from Hayfield, MN) We now live in New Ulm. Some family names are Hemingway, Lee, Hagen, Peterson,Aarhus, Gordon, Huseby,Torgerson,Lewison, Anderson, Johnson, Share|
I first became interested in family history when I took a women's study class entitled "Our Foremothers". One assignment was to do an oral history with an older relative. Hearing the stories that my mom, my grandma & my husband's grandma had to share was priceless. The past became alive and names & dates became real people. I think my quest is bringing these stories and people to the younger generations that we will not lose this connection...and that our foremothers and forefathers will not be forgotten.

Thanks for this. I am now living in Fairmont and working half time as the priest at St. Martin's Episcopal. Not doing much graving any more except for the congregation here.

|Dazl||Adam and Catharina Meyer|
I am interested in finding relatives of Adam and Catharina Meyer. This is my great great grandfather. His son John Meyer was my father's grandfather. Any more info about them, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much for putting the grave info out there. I knew he was buried in New Ulm, MN.
Again thank you!

Thank you for the Picture's.
Thank you for the obituary for her memorial. Her husband and his other wife are my direct ancestors. It's been very difficult to find additional information on her, due to Frederick marrying two women with such similar names.
When I was a youngster, my grandmother, Esther (Fahning) Kottke Gareis, took me to the old section of the New Ulm Cemetery, where there were a bunch of old white stones within a chain link fenced area. Most of those stones have since disappeared. I'm sad that we dont have photos or other records.
I've sent the update to my mother, who will be thrilled to see more info on another Kottke.

No, I didn't......but I will look it up again and do that...I subscribe to the Newspapers.com site, so it would not be too difficult to locate it again :)

|TRISH||RE: Augusta Subilia obit|
You're so welcome - I love finding these obits also!
Actually, no, I am no relation at all to the Subilia family.
I currently reside in Juneau County, WI and have been trying to do as much Find A Grave work, transcribing the cemeteries here, as possible these past few years. As well as in some of the nearby adjoining counties.
It just so happened that I recently created a Find A Grave memorial for Augusta and Henry's son, Edward Edgar Subilia.
Whenever I add a memorial I try to always do some further research in order to obtain 'complete' birth/death dates and places, maiden names, & find/link them to their family members, etc. My motto in genealogical research is and always will be that 'more is better"!
So I first checked for census records to find his parents. Once I had their names and circa dates/places, I then checked Find A Grave for a memorial. When I found the memorial for 'August', I was pretty certain that it was the 'Auguste/Augusta' I was looking for--which led me to search for further proof by locating an obit which verified her husband's name, whose also buried in the same cemetery, and her death date, which matched the death date on the 'August' memorial.
Gotta love it when a plan comes together so perfectly :)
Thanks once again for your help!
