Bio and Links
Bio Photo We have been tracing our family trees for a number of decades. As part of that research, we have walked a number of cemeteries photographing the gravestones. Jim's genealogy centers on Mason County, WV and Elizabeth's family comes from the western New York area.

Changes to names, dates, places and relationships can be easily made under the Edit tab on any memorial.

The purpose of Find A Grave is to record burial locations, not build your family tree. Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request.

If you wish to gather your family members, use the "Virtual Cemetery" feature.

All the current policies on transfers can be found at "How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me?" under the "Help with Find A Grave" link on the left hand side of the page.

Requests for transfers outside of direct relatives within four generations (siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren) will not be honored.

Photographs we have taken can be used on other websites or in printed materials ONLY if credit is given to (including cemetery name) and credit is given to "Jim and Elizabeth" as photographers. Any images we have uploaded are copyrighted and are not free for the taking without proper credit.

Genealogy Updating
Good Evening,

I'm checking to see if this George Schirm is the father of Helen Evelyn, wife of Duane Getman? If so, do you have any background information on his wife Caroline?

I have multiple books related to the Getman family Genealogy and willing to help you out in any way that I might.

I can be reached at:

Thank you inn advance.

Find A Grave Memorial# 102174781

I hope that you can help me. I am researching George Whitney for a friend and I see that his headstone is one side of the Halstead headstone. Do you know if I am correct in assuming that the side that you have shown with John Halstead and Jane Wiltsie are the parents of George's wife Mary Jane? Thanks for any help you can be.

RE: Melissa Dudley
You're welcome on the information for Melissa. Her son Edwin, I don't believe was ever married but not positive. I have searched for an obit on him been have not found one, yet, hope to though.
Willard and Melissa also had a son, Frank C. Dudley, born about 1856 in NY. I believe both sons were born in western New York area before the family removed to New York City. They also had lived in Jersey City, New Jersey around 1880 before returning to western New York. If and when I come across additional information on this family I will pass it on.
Thanks for updating Melissa's memorial. I haven't seen anything on an Adele Dudley.
Have a good evening, Nan

Happy New Year!
I have found another "odd" one. You have created a memorial for this man for his scattered ashes. There is another memorial for his "burial" in Chicago #104278292.
Obviously, he is not there and it is not noted that it is a cenotaph. They created the memorial from Chicago death records.
I do not know how to handle this one. I updated his first wife's records and connected both of them to her. Unless it can be proven there is a cenotaph in the cemetery, your record should be the correct record.
So...I will leave this one for you to straighten out. If I can be of any help, let me know.
Sorry to hand you another mess!

RE: Mary Hull
Elizabeth, Thanks for taking care of this for me. It was a mess that I stumbled upon looking for information on another Mary Hull who is buried in Hope. I still do not have a family connection to her and it looks like I might never get it. I know who her executor of her estate was but not her parents. So...
Anyways, I agree Mary Ann is most likely buried in Leicester. They lived near Gibsonville on the Leicester side, so it makes sense since other family is buried in Leicester.
It is odd that the Perry paper put her in Hope. But to add even more confusion (if it was ever needed) her husband was reported in an obituary in Perry that he also was buried in Hope. Of course, he does not show up in a burial record there either!
Also, many thanks for adding the headstone pictures for Mary and John Kelsey. That is really appreciated. I can not express how much it means to me all the work you and Jim have done in helping me sort out my family tree.
I hope you and Jim have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!
