In 2006 I googled my mother's name and found her on Find a Grave--this was a joyful day for me. Of course, I had to find everyone else! It took awhile after joining (initially to place 'flowers' on their memorials) before really understanding enough to make memorials myself. This I began in 2011, starting with my darling husband. Was involved as a bereavement facilitator for my church (right after Ken's death) - am very aware of the needs of the grieving to tribute their loved ones. Find a Grave is a wonderful place to do just that. Am also quite experienced in the pain which insensitive/unthinking people can inflict. (Am presently not actively facilitating--although I still find myself helping with grief issues any where I happen to be.) |
My direct family lines are through Fonnesbeck, Duval, Gerbet, and Bissegger families.
My husband's direct family lines are Pitcher, Jorgensen, Plowman, and Barrett.
And many, many more before!
However, I am fascinated by all.
Have found several loved ones and friends through findagrave and am thoroughly hooked on helping to make all of our searches more satisfying, productive, educational and just plain fun!

BTW, this is Daisy's grandmother on findagrave:
That's the same cemetary where you'll find her first husband James Strong (Daisy's grandfather).
|James Bly||Daisy Odell|
If you want to see all the research I have on her family, you can find most of it here. (Though a lot of source notations are up on familysearch.) https://www.blyfamily.com/webtrees/individual.php?pid=I73&ged=JamesBlyBio
Daisy's family was difficult in a few places because of the death of her grandfather at a very young age and the fact that her mother liked to play guessing games with her age. Her grandfather James has been a dead end so far. Let me know if you find more!

Hey Pat! Thanks for checking. So Daisy's maiden name was Odell and not O'dell. Some people have thought she was Irish but they were the Odel family before that and the Odle family before that. They were English. On all records she and her ancesters were Odell.
Here's a link to the 1880 census showing her father Austin and family:
Some of the confusion might come from the death certificate issued for her son Ernest where they wrote her name incorrectly.
