Bio and Links
Bio Photo For a Christmas present, I decided to give my daughters and niece a photo album of relatives for a keepsake. When I visited a family cemetery to take photos of markers, I felt surrounded by a lot of love. Everywhere I looked, there were babies who never grew to be an adult. There was my great grandfather, then a great-great grandfather, and the more I dug into the census and the more questions I asked, the more familiar these people became to me. A relative came up with a family tree, tracing our Warren family back to England. I found a great grandfather near my grandfather in a cemetery that the family had visited so many times but no one had ever noticed him. Everyone has been to visit him, now, paying the respects that were long overdue. Beside him, his wife, three sons and a daughter are buried.

I enjoy going to different cemeteries in our area and putting families together. The babies who have no parents with them catch my attention. When I list them, I hope someone finds them and adds them to their family. If I list someone who isn't a family member, I check out the census and our local history books to see if I can find something out about them. My mother has been a tremendous help, as she can recall so many details about these people and the life they lived. My husband has been there with me, wading through stickers, mosquitoes and the Texas heat.

If I have made any mistakes, please let me know. If I have listed your family member, I will be glad to transfer them and let you add them to your listings. I know how important family is to family. Speaking of family, I am researching the Warren , Knapp, Peace, Boydstun, (Boydston), French, Barnett, Carroll and Brim families and families of Navarro Co., Texas.

Hi Karen!
James William Speegle is the biological father of Jessie Francis Powell. Her Mother, his 1st wife, was Sallie E Lewis Speegle. I have not been able to locate when she died, and/or where she is buried. I may have to write for Sallie's death certificate. I have Jessie Francis' death certificate, but I have decided to blur out social sec numbers before adding to family memorials.
Jessie is my great-grandmother, and Sallie is my gr gr grandmother.
I have asked Pete to add Jessie's link to his memorial, and hope he will add a message in the bio that Sallie E Lewis Speegle is the mother, not Lela Franks. Sallie must have died before he married Lela... (assuming). In both Jessie's obit and her brother William David's obit, they list Mrs J W Speegle (Lela Franks) as step mother. Many newspaper clippings through the family years Lela Franks Speegle is referred to as mother, of course. Thanks, Cindy (sorry it's so long)

Norman Maurice Anderson - 27299353
Hi Karen,

I have updated the parent links for Norman. For the parents you have in the Bio text, you can update to:

Father - William Jefferson Anderson
Mother - Sarah Ethel Carrell

Norman was my 3rd cousin.

Willie B Shivers Griggs and Wm Joseph Shivers
Hi again, Karen!
I have an edit in for my grandpa to be added to his parents' page, so I figured that out.... I'm learning! Also, on Willie B Griggs, I need you to remove Lorene's name... she never ever knew Willie B. Lorene didn't come into the family until my grandma Rosie died at the time of her last child's birth who is still living. But, she never knew Willie at all. Thanks!

Hi Karen... we've corresponded before.... I'm trying to figure out why my grandfather William Joseph Shivers is not listed under George Washington Shivers as his child with Susan Virginia Berry? Thanks much! Cindy Shivers, Texas

Thank you and your family for all the work you do for Find A Grave. With people like you I can learn so much more about my family, to pass on to other family members. so thank you. I would like to know if you would allow me to use your headstone pictures of Bruce's and other family members of his that you have posted. I cant let you transfer them to me as I'm on hospice so don't think I can handle that. I will give you and find a grave credit for those that I post. I will be waiting for your reply.
Thank you again

I hope things are well for you and your family. We've probably exchanged emails but I wanted to thank you for all your contributions. I see your name all over the Cryer Creek Cemetery - FindAGrave and we appreciate your time and effort.
I'm currently President of the Cryer Creek Cemetery Assoc and wanted to invite you and others to our Annual meeting. The meeting is scheduled for May 22nd (3;00PM) at the Cemetery. By that time I hope to have most of the New Plot Survey complete. As you may or may not know, our plot survey was lost sometime ago. Starting over is a lot of WORK!!! Nonetheless, I'm happy to do it as I find it interesting and on occasions get to meet great people like yourself. If you can't make the meeting I completely understand but please spread the word as I would love to get more people involved and serve on our Board.
Blessing to you and yours,
Jon Thomas
