Bio and Links
Bio Photo My family is from the Cincinnati OH area but I currently live in Appomattox VA. I have been doing genealogy research on my family for quite a long time now. Most of my ancestors are from the Cincinnati area - names include: Kettler, Unger, Wessel, Feldhaus, Markus, Martin, Hueninghake, Hubing, Willke. My husband's family are from Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia - names include: Wagurak, Hardy, Wilson, Dodd, Cymbalak. I am willing to photograph gravesites in the Appomattox and Lynchburg VA areas, if I can locate the cemetery. Many are family plots on private property and are inaccessible and so I cannot fill those requests. I also photograph other markers while I'm out and create memorials here if they don't all ready exist. I will gladly transfer these to family or friends who would like to maintain them.

RE: Archie Garland Gaines
Thanks. Sorry I had the wrong location. Glad you caught it. I had saved newspapers for the Appomattox Times-Virginian for number of years when I subscribed to it and know I'm trying to get all of them on their memorials. Don't know if all of the contributors will add them or not. Thanks so much for adding it. Henry Webber

RE: Ihlendorf correction
You'll notice that Clemens Hellebush, also buried at Calvary Cemetery, is an Ihlendorf descendant if you look at the memorial I have for him.

Thank you for the update. A transfer would be nice. She is the sister of my great grandmother.

Thomas K. Prevatt Photo

Thank you for taking the photo of Thomas K. Prevatt's headstone at the Old City Cemetery in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was my wife's 3rd great grandfather. I appreciate you indicating the plot information on the photo. I was hoping for inscriptions on the headstone. I guess there was no time for that during the Civil War.

Thank you for that link. It is interesting. I have been to that website before for another relative. I have a lot of ancestors from Cincinnati. Were you looking on that website for some of your Martins?

Sad. I agree with you. Having one son die tragically and name the next child after him had to be hard.

Did they list any parents on the death record?

RE: John Markus photo req.
I also wonder if the two Anna Markus records are dups.

Yes the dates are different, but older records sometimes are a bit off. I will try and visit the Cincinnati Library downtown, where I work, and see if they have the cemetery records for the Markus'.

If by chance you have others in the area you need some information, I don't mind passing along what I can find at the library.

You may already know this, but I like to share information. The Kenton County KY library allowed for registration online. You can then use that card number to access their online genealogy material.

Cincinnati has the Williams Cincinnati Directory online. Not sure if you need a card or not to access. I have the 1868 year and there are three Markus records listed.

Mrs Markus, Widow, 12 Buckeye
Mary Markus, Seamstress, bds, 41 Ailanthus
Wm Markus, Lab, 168 Pleasant

If there is some research I can help you with from the library, send me a request via email.

RE: John Markus photo req.

Have you reviewed the Markus' records for this cemetery? Earlier this year, I posted a new record and a photo for Elizabeth Markus, but at the time I did not know the first name. After some research, the headstone was for Elizabeth and the record was already there without a photo. I deleted my photo and posted the picture to the current record.

I just posted another Markus photo to Herman Markus. I believe your request is for a John Herman Markus. Are these a duplicate record??
