Bio Photo Kindly do not place death certificates or newspaper obits in the picture section of any of my memorials!!

Originally from northwestern New Jersey, I have lived in Central Texas since 1970. I'm retired and enjoy my children and grandchildren.

I have been with Find A Grave a few years and have made many friends all over the world and in my home area. What a joy that has been!!

We have a group of FindAGraver's in the Central Texas area that come together once a month for lunch and a gabfest in Waco. All members welcome, so please send an e-mail to Ruth Brown, snuffy@hot.rr.com, to be added to our list for notification of time and place.

Enjoy being able to help others make family connections and any other information I can find for them. My own personal heritage lines: Winter, Randolph, Kostenbader, and Osmun.

My favorite animal pals are BBit and Sugar Baby (cats). My companion, Rascal, also a cat, crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 17 years of age on May 28, 2014. A part of me went with him.

Please feel free to contact me at my e-mail address or "edit" tab on a memorial, instead of posting requests on my member page.

You may use my pictures for other projects, but please give proper credit when doing so.

I prefer to utilize the picture area for markers and photos as originally intended, rather than obits and/or death certificates. Info in the flowering portion of my memorials will be reported to FG Admin for removal. Thank you!!

RE: Sarah Scarborough 114737836
Thank you so much, Dee, for your wonderful update on the memorial 114737836 of Sarah E. Brown Scarborough.
Such a lot of data. I can tell you have worked on it a lot. I am 1c3r with her.

I have just scanned the cemetery records in "History of Franklin Co., GA" looking for Neese burials. Unfortunately that book does not have the cemeteries indexed, but at least the burials in each cemetery are alphabetical by surname. The ONLY cemetery in which I found any Neese names was Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston, Ga. I was delighted to find there the record for John Alpheus NEESE, the son of Sarah Elizabeth Brown and Rev. John Wesley Neese. He was born June 24, 1866 and died April 21, 1921.Also there is Ella Tucker NEESE born June 26, 1866 and died 1 Sep 1933. So far, I have not searched for a marriage or censuses, but their ages look as though they may be a couple. The only other Neese records are (1) Infant dau of L.A. died Mar 18, 1895 age 1; and (2) Infant son died 10 Oct 1893 age 2 months (no parents noted.)

According to my records, Sarah Elizabeth Brown (9 January 1850-29 Jul 1923) was the daughter of John Alphaus Brown and Margaret J. Herndon, found with them in the 1860 census . They married 23 Feb 1849 in Elbert Co., GA. He died 26 August 1863, apparently in the CSA, listed in "Dead Members of Hendry's Baptist Church" as having died in 1863.

The other child of Sarah Elizabeth Brown and Rev. John Wesley Neece was George Elbert Neese (19 June 1875-3 May 1940) who died in Waco, McLennan, Texas. He probably was the reason his mother was buried out there. I have not yet searched to see if there is a findagrave record for him.

The birth/death dates I have for John Wesley Neese are 10 Jan 1840-7 Dec 1884. I am sorry to confess I do not have my source for that in my computer file. Surely I have it from somewhere since it is not a good idea to just make up dates, is it? :}

In "History of Franklin Co., GA" p 314, in a paragraph about "Royston United Methodist Church"
it reports that the church was organized in 1877 and that J.W.Neece (local Preacher) and Mrs. Lizzie Neece were charter members. (This could easily be our Sarah Elizabeth Brown Neese.)

In "Cemeteries of Hart Co., GA" in the listing of cemeteries, there is shown a Neese Family Cemetery, just off US 29 North, on Old US 29 , on right behind Jimbo's.

There are about 35 Neese burials listed in the above book, but only about 7 or so listed as being buried in that place. John W. is not listed anywhere.

The two volumes of obituaries for Hart Co.,Ga do not show him either. There are several Neese listings in the volume for 1877-1902: Caroline, George, J.C., Sarah, William A. This "Mrs. Sarah was 88 when she died 8 Aug 1891 at the residence of her son. She was the wife of William A. Neese."

I am glad to have the data on David C. Scarborough.

Thank you so much. I will try sleeping on this but it probably will keep me awake since it is already 12:30 AM.

Sincerely, Ann Holloman (anncholl@hotmail.com)

Thank you for your picture of the grave sites. Even without markers, your picture and labels establish the position their plots, I'm guessing, otherwise only know, from a plot map. Again, thanks! Gary

Thanks for the note about the 1940 census. It was the missing piece to find the maiden name for her sister Mollie Amason. ... Only clue I had was that Mollie's obit named Gloria Holloway as her niece. Followed the "breadcrumbs" that led to Mollie's sister, her maiden name, and her parents.

Sorry, Dee, I am not able to find Sarah Scarborough. I do not find her memorial number in the message. I would like to hear from you again so I can study your comments. What is her maiden name? Thanks for your interest in findagrave.

RE: Nabors
Thank you Dee. I was born in Waco and grew up in Robinson. I have a ton of relatives buried in the Robinson Cemetery and many African American friends and neighbors buried in the Robinson African American cemetery. I grew up on Moon Light Road and as a child walked down Moon Light Road past the African American Cemetery after going trick or treating all by myself at night. I kept my eyes on the road and picked up my step when I walked (ran) by this cemetery at night. Many of my neighbors who were alive back then are now buried in this cemetery. If you check the name "Hague" in the Robinson Cemetery you will find my parents, sister, grandparents, uncles and aunts, great-grandparents, and great-great-grandmother. My roots go deep in Robinson.

Thank you for all the work you are doing for Find A Grave.

Photo of the grave of Cora Nabors Fredericks
Dee:

Thank you so much. Cora Nabors Fredericks was my grandmother's aunt. In her later years she was blind and stayed at Hilcrest hospital in Waco. He brother took care of her. It must have cost a fortune to care for her. I remember going to visit her as a child. Thank you so much for finding her grave location. I am surprised there is no marker.

Keep up the great work on Find A Grave.
