A native-born resident of Marshall, Texas, I have been extensively researching my family's gravesites in the surrounding areas since 2012. From Cass to Morris to Panola to Upshur Counties, to sites all over Marshall and towns in and around Harrison County and beyond.

I was a member of the Harrison County Historical Commission for several years, and was appointed as their Chairman for the 2019-2020 term. I now volunteer at the Harrison County Historical Museum's research library. I was the 2016 recipient of 'The Marjorie Perkins Outstanding Volunteer of the Year' award with the HCHC for my work with cemeteries in Harrison County, TX.

I have walked and photographed markers at over 200 cemeteries in Harrison County, and many other cemeteries in neighboring counties, and want the information for cemeteries in my area to be as complete as possible for future generations; when I started, the county courthouse only had about 80 on record. My goal is to walk, locate, and record them all.

I am trying to gather information on Harrison County cemeteries that have incorrect directions or none and locate them so they accurately appear on the Maps tab; if you know where a cemetery is but can not get to it, let me know!

Batts Cemetery is one of my current attempts at finding the exact location - it is not at the GPS coordinates that were added here on Findagrave.

As a partial list, I rediscovered Jackson Cemetery in Marshall near Fisher Drive, a 2 person burial site south of Waskom containing Confederate soldiers wounded at the Battle of Mansfield, Kimberling Cemetery south of Hallsville, a 2nd Friendship Cemetery north of the Hallsville/ Noonday area, Waskom Cemetery near I-20, a 2nd Taylor Cemetery in the Pirkey Power Plant area, Old Canaan Cemetery south of Marshall, Ham Cemetery north of Grange Hall, and have leads on the locations of others.
