My name is Shannon Gorman. I was a "Navy Brat". My dad graduated from Ole Miss and went into the Navy to fly jets. I married a Navy submariner, so I spent the first 40 years of my life moving from duty station to duty station. My summers were spent with my grandparents in Gulfport and Columbia, Mississippi. Home to me is Mississippi.|
I am the publisher of the MsMarion.com website and the Mostly Mississippi database, with over 102,000 files. This database is free and can be found at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=shannon50
I have a Masters Degree in Business Education and have taught in high schools and junior colleges. For genealogy education, I completed the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Consultant Genealogist course, and have 17 proven American Revolutionary War Patriot Ancestors, with others in process. I have helped 20 other people join DAR by working on their lineage with them. I have completed the BYU South Eastern United States genealogy course, and am currently enrolled in second course.
I have photographed over 5000 funeral home records. I published the Colonial Funeral Home Records 1913-1915, and have two more sets of funeral home records in the publishing process. The first volume can be found in the DAR Library in Washington, DC. If you have guestions about the Colonial Funeral Home Records, just ask. I am not doing this to make money. There is no charge for communicating with me!
I have been photographing tombstones for longer than Find a Grave has existed, but do not intend to compete with, or duplicate work other people are now doing or have done. I am happy so many people are participating in documenting cemeteries.
I do not want to manage any more memorials. I ask questions about some of them, but that does not mean I want to manage them, it only means I had a guestion. Thank you in advance for not making me the manager of any memorial unless I expressly asked to manage it. I consider it a big responsiblity to manage the memorials and it is very time consuming to get them right. I am not someone who wants to have the most memorials entered, I want to be the person who is willing to document the source and provide correct lineage information on the memorials I manage.
If I do not respond right away, please email me. Some health issues put me down for a couple of years but I am determined to bounce back. I am not ignoring you, I promise.
Happy Hunting and I look forward to working with you on Find a Grave.

|Lavinia Ricketts||Albert Craft - Sartinville|
I will be in Lincoln County next weekend (near Ruth) and can probably make it to the Sartinville cemetery. Is there any chance that you know the vicinity of his location within the cemetery? (it is not small, but can be walked if needed.
|Bill Reagan||Civil War Records|
Where can I find the records of men that enlisted in the Civil War of Marion County, Mississippi.
|Jerry Wiggins||Howell Albritton|
He and his wife raised a girl named Holland Fredonia Hatton. In Bienville Parish Springhill Cemetery, there are markers around the grave of a Robert Hatton. It is marked off with 4 markers bearing the name Albritton. He is the father of Holland. Any kind of info would be helpful...Thanks,
Jerry A. Wiggins
|Jerry Wiggins||Albritton Family|
To anyone related to the Albrittons...Howell and Laura raised a girl named Holland Fredonia Hatton. Do you have any info relating to this?
|Dede Stafford||Elizabeth "Betty" Richardson Glazier|
My name is Dede Stafford, and I saw the question that you left on Betty's Find A Grave page. Betty was my aunt, the sister of my 3rd great-grandmother, Margrett Richardson Cagle.
I have their date of marriage as 12/30/1890 in Winston County, MS. And I have Louis as dying in 1897.
Here is the curious thing...in the 1870 census, Bettie is listed as 22 years of age. She would have been almost 40 in 1870. I know that census records often have discrepancies, but that is some difference!
A distant cousin of mine had told me that according to family legend, Louis was a shop keeper, and that Bettie's family did not approve of him because he was Jewish.
Could there be two Louis Glaziers?? Some things certainly seem to match, but other's I am still scratching my head about.
I would love to hear from you if you have a spare moment!! E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
|bluechablis||the wife of Lazarus Reeves mystery|
As I have continued my search of the last name of one of the two Elizabeths married to my 3rd GGfather Lazarus Reeves, I came upon your notation dated Nov 13, 2015 on Find a Grave "Still searching for proof of maiden name for Elizabeth wife of L.R." - just curious if you had come up with anything besides Massey for one and possibly Simpson for the other. BTW, my name is Barbara Brewer Campbell - have waited rather late in life to begin this quest of seeking out my family tree in some rather organized manner - I have surprised myself with a folder with scraps of paper and notes kept over the years- and delighted with finding all of your information. My parents both came from Pike, CO MS and rest of relatives thereabouts although I was born in TX - the only one - my sibs never let me forget that I am the foreigner in the fx. ha ha. well, thanks for your exemplary work, dedication and passion for preserving history. Best regards, BBC
Are you related to the James O. Gorman Family of Paris, Tennessee? My great grandmother was Mary Grace Gorman Wife of Walter Carter also of Paris, Tennessee. I am interested in any I formation that you might have. You can email me at email@example.com. Thank you.

The Rawls family member in search of the Joseph Ford Cemetery sent me a note that he had easily found the cemetery..Robert
|Robert Abney||RE: Felder, Isaac Cemetery|
I have sent a note to the originator of the cemetery with a request to correct the listing.
When that is accomplished I will review for correct burial information.
