I was born and raised in Iowa, but have called CA home for over 25 years.|
I am new to family history research, but I am hooked!
I recently made some connections on Find A Grave and am quickly learning what a great tool it is in searching through family history.
I also discovered I have a passion for indexing (and photographing) local cemeteries. If we all do our part, the information each of us needs will be right at our fingertips.
Thank you to those responsible for this fabulous website. What an incredible tool and service you provide!
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I'd exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

|Duane Davis||Your photo request|
Just wanted to let you know that I took the photos yesterday but I've been hit with a nasty case of the flu so it may take me a few more days to upload them.
|Connie Langvardt||Adam Sherer|
I am wondering about 2 edits that you sent. One stated that he died in Ohio; however, I found that he died in Enterprise, KS and is buried in that county (Dickinson).
The other has his first name as Jacob and I am unable to find that. There was a Jacob Sherer, son of a different Henry Sherer and his wife Mary. There was also a Jacob Shearer. It's a confusing name - sometimes spelled Scherer.
Also, the middle name of Bare must be the maiden name of his mother which was Baer on the Ohio marriage information online. It was spelled Bear on other records.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thank you Becky for the photo of Stanley's stone! You are appreciated!

I must thank you again! You are FAR quicker on this than even my own relatives. I'd had feelers out for a few weeks with them regarding the possibility of Mary Weckerly....I'd suspected she was the right person for Will's mother. I've yet to hear from any of them...so to me, You are just brilliant and skilled. Thanks a million.
|A Enochs-White||Sherer Transfer WITH THANKS!|
What a surprise. I just saw email about a transfer so Many thanks for having sent that memorial my way. I feel absolutely stupid--I hunted for that forever before just giving up and creating a new one. Thanks for helping me piece back my line of relatives properly.
Hi.....I got involved with this family (and the Raine's, Trescony's, Reni's and others) when I was trying to find the parents (Alexander and Cathereine Reni) of three children (Daniel, Julia and Maryanne Reni) who are buried at San Carlos Cemetery in Monterey. Still have no clear picture of who the Reni's are: possibly the Raine's?
In any case, a fun search. I have a tree in the works and will post on Ancestry soon. Are you related? If so, please contact me
