Eva Mary Johnston
Hello, I've a question on the memorial for Eva Mary Johnston Pepper Memorial# 83064137 which you manage.

Most source records list her name as Eva Mary vs Mary Eva. Even though her stone (which appears newer) lists it as Mary Eva.

You list her mother's name as Pat Hall: I can find no record of this being her mother. I have her mother as Sarah "Sally" Herndon 1862-1941 and her father as William Elliott Johnston 1861-1923. I'd appreciate any source documentation/proof points you can provide. This may be a long-researched break through for our family researchers.

The surname is transposed in several records as Johnson and members of the same family interchanged the spelling.

Eva is buried in the Johnston Family Cemetery which has many with surnames of both Johnson as well as Johnston...

Thank you in advance for your help and for all you do on Find-a-Grave.

Best Regards,

You posted a picture of Mr. McGraw (Sallie Hooper's 2nd husband). It looks very much like James McInturf in a picture posted on memorial #44295280. Are there other persons in your picture? Please let me know your thoughts.

Smith's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery
Would someone here please post precise directions to Smith's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery,
Chester County, SC? I cannot find it on the map; I cannot find it on the internet (except here). Or is this merely a virtual cemetery someone established because they really cannot find where these 5 good persons are truly buried? Pardon me if I am wrong about that. Thank you.

RE: Perry Ivan Phillips
Here is where things get confusing.
Edmund Lester Webb's first wife died andd he was said to have been run out of Missouri for stealing horses from the Union for the Confederacy. IN 1870 he's in Columbia County, Arkansas and has married a widow Louisa Murphy with two kids - Joseph and Alice. They have two more - Laura and Nancy . Laura Vivian Webb marries a Kinser, then a LaGrand. Margaret Alice Murphy marries a Webb and has Myrtle and William. Don't know who this Webb is. She then marries Cyrus Stanley Hill.
Nancy A Webb marries Robert L. McCain
And we are back to square one.
Edmund Lester Webb should be buried in the Campo Cemetery with wife Louisa - also Derrick and possibly the Webb who married Margaret. But I dn't know if any one has ever inventoried that cemetery or if it even exists. Wilda

RE: Perry Ivan Phillips
Edmund Lester Webb married Susan F. L. Phillips in Missouri and had Anderson Bennett Webb,Frances Susannah Webb who married Francis Riley and Lucy Ann Webb who married Derrick.
Anderson Bennett Webb married Lucinda Inez Harris in Fort Worth and had:
Elizabeth Lucy Webb - my grandmother
Minnie Lee (nee Webb) Knight, Smith, Cummings, Smith, Roberts and Kessinger
Walter Ezra Webb died in Wyoming
Francis "Frank" Marion Webb who married Elizabeth Ann McCain
John Franklin Webb who married Josie Alice Chowning
The first three were born in Texas, Frank in the Indian Nation and John in Idaho. Andy had itchy feet. My grandmother got married and stayed in Oregon and Andy took his three other kids to Campo, Calif. where his father had moved to.
He married seven more times but no more kids.

RE: Perry Ivan Phillips
Yes, I believe Ella McCain and May Phillips were sisters. I assume you are related to the Williams and Fuquays, but not the Webbs, McCains or the Chowings. This was a tight knit community in southern California - much inter-marrying. I correponded with Irene for awhile and she gave me the outline of her family. It wasn't until I found a abstracted copy of her marriage to Perry that I realized she had been raised by one Williams sister and the other was her mother-in-law. Wilda
