I am trying to add a pictorial record for our local cemeteries before they are lost forever. I see so many unmarked graves or unreadable headstones. They will be lost forever. Remember your past generations.

I want to thank all who send in corrections/additions for the memorials I have created. I will make the corrections as soon as possible. Please use the edit tab on the memorial.

My feelings are in each family we are called to find the ancestors.
To put flesh on their bones and make them live again,
To tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve.
To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead,
Breathing life into all who have gone before.
We are the story tellers of the tribe.
We have been called as it were by our genes.
Those who have gone before cry out to us:
Tell our story.
So, we do.
In finding them, we somehow find ourselves.
How many graves have I stood before now and cried?
I have lost count.
How many times have I told the ancestors
you have a wonderful family, you would be proud of us?
How many times have I walked up to a grave
and felt somehow there was love there for me?
I cannot say.
It goes beyond just documenting facts.
It goes to who I am and why I do the things I do?
It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever
to weeds and indifference and saying I can't let this happen.
The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh.
It goes to doing something about it.
It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish.
How they contributed to what we are today
It goes to respecting their hardships and losses,
their never giving in or giving up.
Their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family.
It goes to deep pride that they fought to make and keep us a Nation.
It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us
That we might be born who we are.
That we might remember them.
So we do
With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence,
Because we are them and they are us.
So, as a scribe called, I tell the story of my family.
It is up to that one called in the next generation,
To answer the call and take their place in the long line of family storytellers.
That is why I do my family genealogy,
And that is what calls those young and old to step up and put flesh on the bones.

Sarah Breithaupt
Hello Henry,
First thank you for making memorial pages for my grt grt grandparents Truman and Sarah Breithaupt buried in Moseley Cemetery. I am writing to find out if there is a church associated with this cemetery? I have been trying to find Sarah Breithaupt's death record to figure out the names of her parents. ( I know the names, but have no actual proof.) Thank you for reading my note. Claire

Thanks for creating the memorial for my grandmother, Helene J Cassilly. Many of her grandkids live in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maryland - so we have never seen her grave site.
Thanks again!

Henry, I found your name on the Forbito Family Graves. I am working on the Hattaway, Robinson, Shaw, Robertson and other families fro this area. These are my families. I need for you to help me correct the Forbito Cemetery that they are buried in. Some says Hasley others says St Paschal Catholic Cemetery. Your help will be much appreciated.

Thank you!
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you kindly. You have literally photographed my entire Davis Family left in the Zion Cemetery in Farmerville, Louisiana. We always "intend" to get there and do it ourselves but you have done the dirty work for us. Thanks again for all that you do. Rochelle Staten

Mrs. Ozie Jones
Thank you for the picture of Mrs. Jones's Headstone. I will let the family know that this is now on the site. It certainly does complete the site, I believe. A picture of her as well as of her Headstone. I agree with your sentiment that findagrave is a way to keep the memory of our relatives. I am glad that so many people enjoy doing this.

Wasn't sure if you received my email, but I sincerely request the transfer of management of the above memorial to me (ko). I would certainly be most grateful. Thanks.
