Bio and Links
Bio Photo Every life matters. As an author and researcher, I've been the beneficiary of the knowledge and assistance of thousands of historians and genealogists. I try never to miss an opportunity to pay these favors forward.

You are welcome to share my photos among family members. Photo credit is appreciated but not required.

Accuracy is important to me. If you spot errors, please let me know *respectfully.* If you send me additional information to add to memorials, INCLUDE YOUR SOURCE/DOCUMENTATION. If you submit edits without documentation, expect that I will take time to check your info, and that may slow processing considerably. I welcome edits but am only able to process them as my work and family obligations allow. Please do not send frivolous, tomato-tomahto edits; I will decline them. Examples: Section 1 vs Sec 01, Baby vs Infant, middle name with or without period. Thanks for understanding.

A word about bios: the word "biography" means the story of a life, not just the story of the moment of someone's death. I wouldn't want myself or my loved ones defined by that, so I believe it's a matter of respect that if memorials include information about a person's cause of death, they also include information about the much bigger story of their life. As such, I choose not to include information about deaths only, particularly when they are salacious, such as accidents, suicides, fires, executions, murders, etc. I have made occasional exceptions but for the most part, I follow Find a Grave guidelines: “The bio should not look like a case file. Graphic bios are not acceptable.”

I also decline to post information from copyrighted sources (most books and some obituary sources) but can usually post directions to your source.

I'm happy to refer you to other Oregon resources as well.

Virgil C Cook, 156872158
You sent a couple of EDITS to me regarding Virgil's middle name and names of his parents with links to their burial location. You listed middle name as Charles and parents as Paul Ottomar Cook and Eva Eliza Krout Corwin.

In doing some research, I found what looks like more than one Virgil C. Cook. His obituary didn't provide his middle name or names of parents. It listed his birthplace as Shambaugh, Iowa, but an "Iowa, Births and Christenings Index" showed a Virgil C. Cook, born 24 June 1901 in Harlan, Shelby [County], Iowa, with parents as Paul O. Cook and Eva Kraut [Krout]. Two possible marriages, Washington, Marriage Records: Vergil Charlis Cook to Lillian Clera Haddix, 2 June 1923, Vancouver, Clark County, Washington; C. W. Cook to Georgia Burk, 8 Dec. 1945 in Clark County, Washington. Both listed Paul and Eva as his parents.

Please provide sources for the EDIT information you sent me.

Vernon R Lee
Memorial #99293831
1908 (Mississippi) - 1958 (Oregon)

Vernon is the maternal grandfather of some of my cousins. They don't know much about him and would like to know more. I believe he may have been in the military during WWII. Anyone who has info on him please contact me.

Virginia Halstead
Hi Ellen, Thank you so much for searching for Virginia Halstead's grave. Always makes me sad to learn that there is no marker. It's surprising to me how many people don't have them. Appreciate the lovely picture of her resting place. Thanks again. Juelette Fadness
