Bio

Hello, my name is Mark Douglas Browning and I live in Tucson, Arizona.

I was born in Kentucky, and have lived in many other states across the U.S. including: New York, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Missouri, Texas, and Arizona.

My ancestors migrated to America from Germany, East Prussia, South Wales, England, Isle of Man, Scotland and Ireland. Some of these ancestors married Native Americans (Chickasaw and Cherokee). My paternal great grandfather was a Shupe/Shoop from Southwestern Virginia.

On my maternal grandmother's side, I descend from:
  - The Gross, Cooper, Brock, Simpson, Saylor
  - The Salyer families of Harlan County, Kentucky
  - The Griffith family of Whitley and Bell County, Kentucky
Note: My Cooper and Evans families were originally from Campbell and Union County, Tennessee before moving to Harlan County, Kentucky.

On my maternal grandfather's side, I descend from:
  - The Pilgrim family of Pickens and Anderson Counties in South Carolina also of Fayette County, Alabama and Kemper, Neshoba, and Jones Counties in Mississippi
  - The James family of Jasper and Jones Counties in Mississippi
  - The McGinnis family of Ireland, New Orleans, Louisiana, Jasper and Jones County, Mississippi

On my paternal grandmother's side, I descend from:
  - The Craig and Delk families of Whitley County, Kentucky and Campbell County, Tennessee
  - The Craig and Williams families of Union County, Tennessee
  - The Fox family of Campbell County, Tennessee and Whitley County, Kentucky
  - The Lawson family of Whitley County, Kentucky

On my paternal grandfather's side, I descend from:
  - The Shupe/Shoop family of Wythe County, Grayson County, Scott County and Wise County, Virginia
  - The Griffin family of Washington County, Virginia
  - The Browning family of Russell County, Virginia, then Lee County, Virginia, then Hawkins County, Tennessee and later Scott County and Wise County, Virginia and even later Harlan County, Kentucky
  - The Looney family of Hawkins County, Tennessee

Books I have authored:
  - The Descendants of John Muss & Elizabeth Ceise
After thorough DNA research, I have since found that I am not related to the Muss or Ceise families.

I am very happy to transfer memorials to family except in situations where the memorial created is a member of my family.
