Macon beacon. (Macon, Miss.), 05 Aug. 1863. Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers. Lib. of Congress.
I do not have any information about his step mother or sister. I was looking for an obituary for James Franklin Brooks who was the first husband of my husbands ggg grandmother. When I found this I had to put it out there for someone to enjoy.
Transfer has been done. Glad I could play a small part in your journey to find her.

Riverside Cemetery has her date of birth as March 3, 1890 and her date of death as Nov. 22, 1942.
The spelling comes from the booklets published by the Pott. Co. Historical Society and I don't doubt you're right. I'm sure all they had was a hand-written record to go by.
It's good that it can be corrected.
|Linda Hiross||Andrew Beeler Memorial|
Hi Darlene, thanks for bringing this dupl to my attention. The reality is always more complicated than it might seem. As far as I can tell, there is no Mt. Zion Cemetery in Syria. I have searched on the internet and there is no mention of it. Thus, when I transcribed all the GS's in Mt. Zion Bapt Cemetery in Oak Park (in person, on the ground), I listed all those not already listed on Find A Grave at that location. Andrew's obit on the listing in Syria specifically refers to Oak Park more than once, and since relative Mary Lea Beeler is also in Oak Park, Andrew's memorial should be moved. I will contact the lister and see if he will move it to it's proper cemetery. After browsing the Mt. Zion/Syria listing, I see a few other memorials that need to be moved as I have duplicated those as well at Oak Park (where they actually are).
I live in Orange Co, VA adjacent to Madison County. I am finding this problem rampant throughout the area as whoever initially listed many cemeteries in Orange and Madison Co's did not provide good addresses or geographical information; many cemeteries were only identified by County! This is a problem as Church and cemetery names can be very similar. There are no less than 3 Mt. Zion cemeteries in Oak Park, each with a slightly different name and not connected to each other. I have found two churches with cemeteries in Orange Co that have changed denominations in the past 10 years; thus, listings under the old name no longer match what I find out in "the field" on the ground. It is a mess, to be sure, but I am working at "fixing" what I can one cemetery/or listing at a time. Linda

Are you related to the Way family. I have recently discovered that Caroline whi was married to John Way was the oldest daughter of my gr-gr-gr-grandparents, Frederic and Catharine Diehl. If you have any information that you can share I would be most grateful.

|Joseph Mann||RE: Elizabeth Murden|
I walked the cemetery two more times, checking every name. There are a number of Muirden's indicated as having been buried at Hook and Ladder cemetery. I will attempt one more time to get the records keeper to give me some information. It is possible this is an unmarked grave or the headstone is missing. I'll keep you informed.
BTW, the cemetery you mentioned at the corner of Westbank Expressway and Lafayette is Salem Lutheran. I also found a small cemetery about three blocks from Hook and Ladder, but it is clearly not a named cemetery nor is it maintained. Most graves have no names.
|Joseph Mann||Hook and Ladder|
Hook and Ladder #1 is the older portion of the cemetery. H&L #2 is the newer section. They are in the same square block area. That at least gives me a working clue and narrows my search to 1/2 block. I noticed there are several Murdens buried in H&L, so it is possible that I just plain missed it. The older section is not laid out very well.
