"If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?"|
-Coach John Wooden
If you see a butterfly in the flowers and notes section, the information on that memorial came from a death certificate.
If you send an email be sure to put findagrave in the subject line. Sometimes mail lands in the spam box. Anything that lands in SPAM is automatically deleted without opening.
Please DO NOT post photos of obituaries on my memorial pages. If you send me the info I will be glad to post it as long as you give me source and date of the article. If you do not want to type it, send me a photo copy and I will type it.
Per findagrave guidelines "Similarly, you may NOT scan an obituary and add it as a photograph to a memorial record."
PLEASE, PLEASE use the edit tab in the upper right of the memorial page, click on the appropriate selection and fill in the blanks or select suggest a correction and make your comment, suggestion, transfer request etc. This makes it easier for you and me.
A number of memorials in Saranac Cemetery in Saranac, Michigan have been transferred to me. If you have any additional info about any of these I will be glad to transfer them.

I just want to say thanks for accepting my edit request today, and a special thanks for creating his memorial. I was having trouble finding information and your memorial pointed me in the right direction. I was saddened about the circumstances of his death, too young and so sad. I'll admit John was out on a twig of a limb of a branch on my tree but it's nice to be able to connect some dots and remember those we never knew. Thanks for all you do.
|Jay Boone||RE: Sara Jenkins Hines Reese|
Yes I found her death certificate and then started doing more research and found her on the 1910 census with last name Hines living with her grandparents, and then on the 1920 census with last name Jenkins with her grandparents, but her parents were living in the same household.

After some more research I realize that you are correct on who her parents were. She was raised by her grandparents, Edward and Sarah Jenkins. Her parents were Samuel and Minnie Jenkins Hines. She probably wasn't told until later in life who her parents were as she listed Edward and Sarah as her parents on both her marriage license applications.

I forgot to mention that her memorial number is 151688705

I am curious as to where you received the information on Sara's parents. I believe she may be the daughter of Edward Jenkins and Sarah Richards. I have a copy of a marriage license for her and Harry Reese and that is who is listed as her parents, I also have a copy of a marriage license for her when she married her first husband, Parke Speary, and Edward and Sarah are listed as her parents on that license also.

Hi Dottie. Thomas Lee Vaughan was my Great Grandfather and his mother's name was Susan Oliphant Vaughan, Not Sallie Vaughan. Sallie was my GG Grandfather Milton H. Vaughan's second wife. He married Susan Oliphant Vaughan in 1865 and Thomas Lee was born in 1868. Susan Oliphant Vaughan died in 1870. Milton married Sallie Lynch-Vaughan in 1875 and they had a daughter Mabel born in 1876. I have all of the documentation as well as pictures of everyone except Susan Oliphant-Vaughan

I thought that might have been the problem. I rechecked everything when I received the decline and saw that her husband's memorial was linked. But I wasn't sure when it was added, that maybe you added it manually because you did not want to add Flossie as the mother. Based on your response, I now know that I was not as careful as I should have been. I apologize for that. I will resubmit tomorrow. Thank you for letting me know.
By the way, I did not receive a resubmit note, but the email version did say that it was declined because the memorial was up to date with the submitted Edit. And you are right. My Edit should have been rejected automatically by Findagrave because it duplicated information in the memorial.
Thank you very much for the nearly 60,000 memorials you have created for Findagrave. Big volume contributors—and you are the largest volume contributor I know—have been a wonderful resource for family genealogists. I can't imagine how much time and effort was needed to add that many memorials. And you must stay busy reviewing Edit Requests.
