ATTENTION: I AM NO INACTIVE please do not request transfers and changes from FAG stating that I do not respond. I am related to many of my memorials, so please do not request transfers other than immediate family line.|
My family settled in the Greenville Spartanburg area of South Carolina in the 1700s and stayed here. I have worked on genealogy for over 30 years and loved every minute. I've always loved to visit cemeteries and search for the families of those buried there. I have worked on transcribing and preserving cemeteries for many years. Find A Grave is a great place for us to honor those who have gone before and help families find the resting places of their relatives. I hope to add many more pictures and transcriptions.
If you find any errors, have additional information, or wanta transfer to you, please contact me
I am happy to transfer your direct relatives like FAG rules, but I don't think it is really fair for someone to join FAG and start trying to gather up everyone they know. I could be wrong but I feel unless a contributor is deceased or inactive officially, their contributions should be respected.
****** please do not put death certificates on my memorials, I'll be glad to enter the info from the certificates ***************

|Elizabeth Lester Dillard||Oliver Palmer Smith|
Leigh, We are cousins. My grandfather was Oliver Palmer Smith of Greer. My mother was Emily Dean Smith, his daughter. I have been looking for info re Confederate Soldiers in the family and came across our line. I am married to Scott Dillard and we went to Greer three years ago for me to find my Grandparents graves. I wish we could have met. I find myself getting hooked on the family records now! I never knew I had SO MANY cousins. Even Scott and I are cousins, as our great-grandfathers, married the Greene sisters! (I did know Miss Eva.)I appreciate all the work you are doing at Find A Grave. Wading through it all has been eye-opening!

|emcc||another child of Darling Rogers|
What do you know of Washington Rodgers? I have him as a child of Darling Rogers and have read Will documentation to reinforce. What I know is Washington was married to Adelia Ann Hammett and would have been my great great great grandfather on my mother's side (I do see a grave in NC that would be about the age) - Will data implies he was no longer living in 1882 and I believe he is W. A. Rodgers in the 1870 census. . I cannot locate a death record for him anywhere. He and Adelia had 10 or more children (one that we are still trying to identify as my great great grandmother - family lore would suggest 3 children by 3 different fathers outside of marriage) - so we are trying to backtrack from prior generation to ultimately get to my great grandfather John William Rogers (married to Lillie Drummond)....

Can you check that memorial and see what you think the last name on it should be?
I couldn't find any graves close to that name, but will give another shot.. Just would like to know exactly what name I should be looking for. Somehow, I get the feeling, what you have on there is not the right last name.. Missing a vowel or something.
You seem to have many of my relatives' memorials (maybe we are related, lol) and I just wanted to thank you for your effort. I love learning about my ancestors!
William R. and Alice (Burns) Jones are my great-great grandparents, just in case we actually are related.

Would you know if there is a headstone on this grave?

Thanks for your response, Leigh. God bless, and thank you for all your hard work posting the photos from Poplar Springs Baptist Church and keeping up with it.

I have sent a couple of messages to your aol email address but have not received an answer. I am related to the same set of relatives that you are - my great-grandparents on my father's side are Abraham Cox and Rosie Smith. If it is convenient and you would like to meet, I'd like to get together. You, no doubt, have answers to my family tree quandaries, and I would so much appreciate the chance to ask some questions. We also have a cousin in Georgia who is "stuck" in her research and would like to meet you as well. Could you please tell us if the aol email address listed on this site is still in working order? Thank you very much.
