I pursued old-fashioned genealogy in cemeteries, libraries, and courthouses for several decades and communicated with fellow genealogists by mail and telephone. Am now reveling in internet research, digital photography, and email. The latter make researching fifth cousins twice removed much more feasible, if not sensible.|
Find A Grave is a wonderful resource, and I decided to say thank you for the work of others by entering records from local cemeteries. Many thanks to Ione Sweers whose notebooks on the cemeteries of Anderson County and Dorothy Kipper Lickteig whose abstracts of newspapers in ANDERSON COUNTY EARLY GLEANINGS and ANDERSON COUNTY KANSAS CEMETERY BOOK make this easier.
If I have created a memorial for one of your close relatives and you wish me to add information or link them to parents or spouses, just let me know. If you request a transfer, please follow Find A Grave guidelines.
You are welcome to use my photos in your family genealogies, post them on Ancestry, etc.

|Spencer Jennings||RE: Peter Johannes|
And months later, have it figured out. Too many Peter Johannes' coming through Jennings County that married wives named Anna.
The Peter Johannes in Block 4 was who married Anna Riplinger. They came to Indianapolis after the 1870 census and he passed before the 1880.
The Peter Johannes who is buried in St Ann's in Jennings County was married to a different Anna. I'm still working on "Anna Who", but believe she died prior to 1860. They had three daughters.
I'm pretty sure the two Peters were first cousins, born to two different brothers in Saarland, but I'm still digging for details and proof.

Anita, thank you for the fast response. I sent you a message through Ancestry as well. Since this is at the request of Navy POW/MIA Branch, I need to visit with you in a non-public forum.

My information came from cemetery records, but clearly George Maxwell is a common name! I truly appreciate your edit.
