Besides working on my own family tree I'm working, through public records such as those found on Ancestry.com, to identify the men, women and children buried at the state hospitals in Morganton, NC, Goldsboro, NC, Brattleboro, VT, Namozine, VA, Rusk, TX, New Toronto, Canada, Meridian, MS and Middletown, CT and to link them to their loved ones. I have also listed those buried at the Caswell Training Center in Kinston, NC and Letchworth Village in NY and hope to have assistance in linking them to their loved ones. |
To document the research involved I post the death certificates on those memorials and I add a non-working link to the research trees on Ancestry.com where those interested can see how I arrived at my conclusions. Please desist in your attempts to dissuade me from so documenting my research and thereby facilitating others' attempts to research their loved ones. You know who you are. I ask that you calm yourself. This, too, shall pass.
I grew up in Greenville county, SC, first in the city of Greenville, then at the foot of Glassy Mountain in the "Dark Corner" where my maternal grandmother and her parents and grandparents were born. My mother, Anne Ballenger King McCuen, worked for decades as a meticulous land historian in upper SC and published several research texts. My father, William Garrison McCuen, MD worked for decades as an internist/general practitioner caring for many of the upstate SC residents in their homes, hospitals, the Veterans' clinic and his office.
Now I am in the foothills of NC, but enjoy maintaining family property near Glassy Mtn.
You hereby have my express permission to use ANY photo I have made and posted to Find a Grave for your own purposes - but I would appreciate a credit notation as the source should you repost it on your family tree, for this reflects the efforts made in preserving the record and may also provide a link to others interested in that person or cemetery.
I "inherited" a number of memorials posted by Buck Buchanan who introduced me to FAG and will happily transfer them to family. Just send a SAC stating your relationship and I'll be pleased to turn them over to your care. Alternatively, if you are working to identify folks in a particular cemetery where Buck posted memorials and would like to manage the memorials he posted - just let me know and I'll be happy to transfer them to your management. I have found that Buck duplicated a few of the memorials he posted (and on occasion so have I) - if you find that to be the case please let me know so I can remove the duplicates.
As for those of you who assist me in making these memorials useful and respectful, "thanks" and please keep your helpful edits coming.
A lot of conflicts might be avoided among us if each of us will accept and act as if this is about those who've gone before and NOT about us.
If you are fortunate enough in life to be looking for a project to do - please consider documenting the African American cemeteries in your community.

|Ann||RE: Children of Frank Eller and Elizabeth Spears|
Since Mary Eller was my husband's mother and I have pictures of both her and her sister, Mila, I thought you might like to add their names to your Frank Eller post. The family appears in both the 1900 and the 1910 U.S. Census (after Frank died at Broughton Hospital). Incorrect information gets passed from researcher to researcher making it more difficult for all of us to "get the facts right!"

|Ann||Children of Frank Eller and Elizabeth Spears|
Susannah, you may want to add two children to the family of Frank Eller and Elizabeth (Spears) Eller. According to the 1900 U. S. Census, which lists the month and year of a person's birth, Frank was born Sept 1852; his wife Elizabeth "Bettie" was born Aug 1865. Their children are listed as: Annie M. (b. Oct 1889); Mary E. (b.Jan 1892); Jacob (b. Oct 1893); Maudie (b. Mar 1896); and Mila (b. Apr 1898). Their youngest child, John, was born Sep 18,1900. Your post on Find a Grave omits Mary E. and Mila and has an incorrect birth date for Jacob which you may want to change.
Your devotion to research is so impressive, I felt you would want to make these corrections before they are passed on to others.

Ok, thank you so much. This is more than what we had before. We didn't know where my great-great grandmother is from or her relatives. I still believe that there are some living decedents on Roxie side. Would love to trace it back and see who we could find that are alive.
|melvin rascoe||Roxie Cason Rascoe|
Hi Ms. Suzannah, thank you for this information on Roxie Cason Rascoe. She was my great-great grandmother. What's left of our family, we have very little information on her and her parents. I always wanted to know what was her maiden name and where she was from. My great-grandmother, Alice was her daughter. The other children who are not listed are, Manuel Rascoe, Missie Rascoe-Williams, Issac Rascoe, Tina Rascoe. All are now deceased. If you have any other information, please share it thank you. My email is email@example.com
Thank you for the transfer. I want to write a bio on Margaret's life once I learn more about her time in the hospital. Thanks again.

Just a note to thank you for your work with the cemetery at Morganton for the Broughton Hospital.
Do you have a particular interest in the Dunlap family?
|bluelady||RE: Cooley photo|
Yes. The office has her listed as Mary W on their card.
