Bio and Links
Bio Photo My interest in Find A Grave began while researching my family history. After creating memorials for my ancestors and extended family, I added information from obituaries in old extant newspapers.

For the past few years my focus has been on taking headstone photos. I am currently playing catch-up, editing and adding pictures I took in 2015 and 2016.

Like you, I am a volunteer. I participate in this labor of love because I believe it's an important part of our history.

I will gladly update any memorial in my care with a sourced request. Simply share a few details about how you know something to be true when you submit an edit (using the edit tabs please).

Inside voices and good manners are very much appreciated.

Margaret Towner Markey
Hello. As suggested, Margaret's parents are Andrew Towner and Margaret Carroll. I was able to establish this by connecting Margaret to her sisters: Ann, Mary, Theresa, Julia and Jane. Not only are the sisters all buried in the same plot as Margaret in Calvary (with the exception of Ann buried with her husband and children in a nearby section), but all sisters are mentioned in the obituaries of Ann, Mary and Julia. Ann, Mary, Theresa, Julia, Jane and Margaret are all residing together during the 1880 Census, and their relationship is listed as sister. Their address was the same the year before, confirmed with the Chicago City Directory, and that was where their mother Margaret died in 1879 per her death notice in the Chicago Daily Tribune. Additionally, the Cook County deaths of Mary and Ann in 1922 and 1923 respectively, list their places of birth as Salterstown and their parents as Andrew and Margaret Carroll.

Thank you for the kind offer to transfer. No need really, as they are very distantly related. Just like to link as many as possible.

RE: John Wingert
For my source I used I was at Norwood Park Cemetery. I do not know John Wingert, but I appreciate the offer and will keep it in mind for another time. I too want to keep Find A Grave accurate. Thank you, as always.

RE: Carmen V Burris 176319237

Hi Laura,

I did a Google search and her obituary popped up with her birth and death dates.

I am not related, but thank you for the kind offer.

RE: Otto and Hattie White
I got it from her death record (Illinois, Deaths and Stillbirths Index, 1916-1947) through Her husband Otto was the brother of my great grand uncle's wife. (Mary White-Garber).

I was able to find some of the info on as that sometimes gives me more information (like for Otto's parents - Ancestry did not tell me the cemetery but familysearch did).

I hope this helps.

"I received your suggested edit (year of birth) for the memorial above. Would you please provide the source(s) of your information?"

Hi, the obit currently shown on the memorial states William's age as 31 years and 8 months, so given his death date of Jun. 28, 1894, and doing the math, one arrives at an approximate birth date of Oct 1862. Showing a birth year of 1862 is accurate. Thanks!
