Bio Photo The human stories and history that can be found in cemeteries have facinated my husband and I for years. We are happy to share this facination with the Find A Grave community. Please contact us if you have any additional information to add to our memorials. Also, please feel free to use our pictures to enhance your family histories. A credit would be nice but not a requirement.

No problem. Mistakes happen.

Thank you for posting my information. In your words, "A credit would be nice but not a requirement." Evidently you decided attribution was not a requirement in this case.

OK, edits made. Thanks for letting me know, and thanks for sending the additional information for his memorial page. I appreciate it!

Williard Baker # 93536711
Hi there! Thanks for sending the grave location edit for him--always great to have that on the memorial--but I wanted to check with you before I process the edit.

You sent a grave location as "Section 28, Block 24A, Lot 4, Space 7" but the grave marker I photographed for him was in Block 96. If your information is correct, then I wonder if there is another marker for him at Fairmount. Or if there might be a second Williard Baker at Fairmount that would match the grave location information you sent. Would you take another look at your source and let me know? I appreciate it--thanks!

A list of graves seen on the Oregon/California trail in 1850 was published in the St. Louis Missouri Republican of October 6 of that year. One of the many names is Charles P. Macey, age 12, died June 14, of cholera, from "Davis" Co., Indiana. In his 1853 overland diary, Andrew S. McClure reports seeing the head *board* for Charles. When writing, McClure was on the south side of the Platte River about 15 miles east of the Platte Forks or a mile or two south of present-day Brady, Nebraska. Trail grave markers, especially wooden head boards, rarely lasted more than two or three years. Because the grave was still undisturbed three years after burial and because it is well over 1,000 miles to Los Angeles it is highly unlikely that the remains of Charles were ever removed to California. It is almost certain, therefore, that the marker in Evergreen Cemetery is a cenotaph or memorial (at least as far as Charles in concerned). I thought you might be interested. Richard Rieck

RE: E2
Interesting, and after serving in the Navy and knowing EM is Electrician Mate, this is very surprising to me.

Thanks I will have to check with the VA the next time I am there.

This John W. Dickey does not belong to James Monroe and Catherine Dickey. He is the son of Peter Allen or Alexander Dickey and Sarah Emeline Galloway. This is an entirely different Dickey family group. Thanks - Elaine Dickey Sheffield
