Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a gravestone conservator, owning a small business that deals will the restoration and cleaning of historic gravestones and take great pride in fixing every single stone we take on. I am also a local history maniac, who has a hobby (some may call it an obsession) of finding and visiting old cemeteries, especially small, rural plots. If I have a memorial of someone that is in your family or very close to you, I would be more than happy to transfer it to you. Also, if you have any extra information for any memorial I have, please feel free to send me an email. I will update the memorial very quickly. (I secretly love getting added information or corrections to the memorials I upload.)

Mary Baldwin Smith
Hi Kurt,
Thank-you very much for the photo. Wow! What a beautiful stone! Mary is the mother of Maria Smith Bolles who raised my second-great-grandmother Florence Amanda Bradbury of Guilford NY Pewaukee WI after the deaths of her parents John Bradbury and Mary Bolles Bradbury of Guilford.
Thanks again!
Claire

Thank you so much for adding the photo of my 5X Great Grandmother. I recently visited the Coventryville cemetery but was unable to locate her gravestone. Do you have any specific information in regard to its location. The cemetery is not large so I though that I could locate it easily. However, I was disappointed that I could not.
There is no longer a sign for the cemetery and many of the gravestones looked either vandalized or damaged with time.
She is a widow of a Revolutionary Soldier from Massachusetts and I would hate to think that her stone no longer exists.
Thank you for efforts for find a grave.

Thank you, Kurt, for transferring management of Alford's memorial (90348617) to my care. I appreciate you! I updated it with a brief biography this morning.

Benedict Family
Dear Kurt

Thank you for making many, many edits to add references to several Benedict family members. I cross referenced Ancestry.com and Census records to the book "The Genealogy of the Benedicts in America" by Henry Marvin Benedict as a reference. I have tried to trace all the Benedict descendants as far as I could and reunite the family virtually.

I realized tonight that I made a mistake for Emma Catherine Benedict - I submitted an edit to change her mother from Sarah Whitenack to Nancy Ann Chapman.

Thanks! Karen Byrne

Scrafford Farm Cemetery
Hello Kurt

Looks like you claim to the stones on Scrafford Farm on Settles Hill.

Did you take any pictures of the tombstones? Did you go there personally?

I am confused. Lawrence and Catherine are my descendants.

Thanks you

Hi Kurt
I guess I won't have to ask you if you are on Find A Grave next time we meet up at the Guilford Historical Society, somehow I knew you were. I am here almost every day. Eileen

Hi again,

I went to the cemetery today and with my photo I located the headstone. It is ok but very difficult to read.

Thanks for your reply. I have called the church several times, so far without any positive results. I called 2 days ago and was told that Betsy Goodrich who did work on behalf of the cemetery has retired. The lady I spoke with said she would leave a message for Rev Scott Garno to return my call. I believe you are probably right that the stone may have been disturbed by the flood about 10 years ago. If that was the case, then I need to find where the stone was removed to. I have a photo of the headstone taken about 20 years ago, clearly showing the name; Benjamin Saunders and date of death April 20 1842. He was an Inn keeper when he died and I am sure the property is long gone.
Do you have any ideas? - other than continue to try to contact the responsible people of course.

I just duplicated the above Find A Grave. I created it because I found a photo of the headstone and didn't realize you had already created one. I would be happy to take over the site as he is my 3rd gen great grandfather.
PS, I just found that the headstone is missing from the cemetery. I know they had a flood on the Susquehanna, but it doesn't seem possible that the stone could have possibly have washed away. It was in the middle of the cemetery and if it washed away so would all the stones around it! Do you have any thoughts on this possibility?
Thanks

Jacob Lewis Reigle
Hello [distant] Cousin!

You left a "flower" on Jacob L. Reigle's memorial indicating that you are his 4x great grandson. I am the 2nd great grandson of his older brother, Daniel J. Reigle.

I think that makes us 4th cousins, twice removed, or something along that line...

I have been documenting the military history of the Civil War veterans of that immediate family. Do you have any background on Jacob? I would be interested if you have any family photos or other information I could capture for my family tree.

Also, if you are interested, I would invite your attention to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) organization.

Formed in 1881, they are the heir and legal representatives of the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) which was the principle Union Civil War Veterans' organization. The VFW and American Legion are patterned after the G.A.R. Many of our ancestors of that generation were members of the G.A.R.

If you would like more information, the national SUVCW web site is located at www.suvcw.org, or please feel free to contact me.
