I have been interested in family history since the mid-1970's and interested in cemeteries since childhood when we often walked to Lewis Cem a small rural cemetery where we read the stones, told ghost stories and noted the tragedy of infant mortality.|
Much research has been done on my Gerrish family since they were an early New England family arriving in Newbury, MA in 1639. But much less is known of my mother's family so at this time I am more interested in learning about her Small, Holton, Ramsay, Ogle, and Light families, the first 2 in PA and the others in Canada, Scotland and Ireland.
Besides my own family I am deeply involved in research of the small rural cemeteries of Carrigan Twp, Marion Co, IL: Lewis, Harrison (where approximately 70% of the burials have some connection to my 3x-Great Grandfather, Henry Gerrish), Phelps and Wisher (listed here as Burton/Kissner/Wisher).
Any new information to add to the memorials I have created as well as information on my own lines is greatly appreciated.
Though my ratio of managed memorials to created memorials is high, I AM NOT a hoarder aka number person. Most of my memorials which I did not create came from the accounts of deceased or inactive contributors. If I have no connection whatever to a memorial that I manage I am always happy to find someone who would like to take it over. And I am just as happy to receive any and all that have a connection with my extended family.
You may use tombstone photos which I have posted for your personal, non-commercial, non-internet use without asking further permission. When taking photos from a memorial please document my full name as it appears here and the memorial number from which it was taken.
I have several hundred old family photos from 85 or more years ago. I have extremely mixed emotions about posting them online because I know there are people who will copy them and claim them and treat them as their own. But I want other family members to have an opportunity to see these pictures. Please contact me for permission to use any of these family pictures.
Please let me know if you have a photo identical to any of mine, because that would mean we are probably related. I love to hear the stories behind the photos and make connections to new found relatives.
DO NOT POST ANY OF MY PHOTOS ONLINE ANYWHERE! That includes other FindaGrave memorials.

Hmm, I really can't answer that. All her record show Esther Anna. Some have her as Hester Ann. Looking at this again I did come across their 6th child.
|James Bellert||WILBERT GERRISH|
I checked with the cemetery office and was told that no marker was ever secured for Wilbert Gerrish. They gave me the grave location and I photographed the site, but there is no marker for Mr. Gerrish there. Sorry.

Hello! While doing my family research, I found that my ggg grandfather, Lucius Groves, married Sarah Wood, who was a gg granddaughter of Stephen and Joanna. Do you have any idea where their headstones are at?
|Tim & Grace||Norway Pine Grove Cemetery 12 Sep 2009|
If you read the bio of the contributor for Sarah Ann Ingham Wheeler's memorial, you will see what I mean.
Last paragraph: "The information I obtained for Norway Pine Grove Cemetery was found online and the link no longer is working Norway Maine Cemetery Records
If you have a problem with any posting I made from these records, please contact the Town of Norway to change their records, I can not do it. I posted what they have in their records. Thank You."
A lot of people gave up on trying to get anything done for relatives buried there after that happened. Apparently, Norway Town Office had to delete their cemetery listings on their Town website because someone put them on findagrave and they had no control over the memorials on findagrave... only their own website, so they deleted it.
|Tim & Grace||Ingham-Wheeler family|
Sorry, but neither one of us is related to this Ingham-Wheeler family. I think the reason I posted anthing was to try to help people that were related to people whose memorials were dumped into Norway Pine Grove Cemetery on 12 Sep 2009.
Sincerely, Tim Cooper

Joseph Gerrish (1681-1765) and his children. I am in the process of adding profiles on wikitree.com for Little's, their spouses and children. He was married to Mary Little, daughter of Moses and Lydia (Coffin) Little of Newbury. Right now I am just collecting basic information (birth, marriage, death) but will be adding biographical information as I can so any thing you have will be greatly appreciated.
|Little Geno||RE: Capt Stephen Gerrish & Joanna (Hale) Gerrish|
Thank you for the clarification concerning Stephen and Joanna (Hale) Gerrish. I appreciate that Find A Grave is primarily a site for accurately recording burials and not a genealogy site so I understand you not wanting to process my edit.
I was actually researching a different Joseph Gerrish and came across this connection so I sent in the edit.
Thank you for all your work on Find A Grave,

I added the photo you requested for Estella Holton. William Grover Holton is in the same plot and I added a photo for him too.

No, I'm not related. I have time available during the day when I'm stuck by the phone with little to do, so I call the Baltimore Cemeteries with old and/or outstanding requests. If I can get to the cemetery, I fill the request, but if I can't, it makes it easier for someone who can. Many of the cemeteries limit you to 2 names per call and then get cranky if you call too many times a week, so I'm just trying to help the cause.
I also have access to the Baltimore Sun online, if you find yourself if need of a newspaper search.
Have a good weekend.
