RE: Benjamin Gross - Quabbin
Hi Ben,

What I can tell you after looking at the plots within gravesite 113 is that Benjamin F. Gross who is listed to be in plot 10 should be right next to Elizabeth Dyer Gross (plot 11) or very nearby. She is buried next to her husband, Capt. Macah Gross (plot 12). I took a photo of these gravestones individually and together, so if you look at the together one...Benjamin should be to the left as you look at the pic. They surely couldn't be his parents, since he died in March of 1839 at 5 yrs/5 mos, so I'm not sure why he's there - do you know who his parents were.

Go on and look up Capt Micah Gross to see the pics I took. If you want me to add those pics to Ben F, let me know.

My educated guess is that he may be the son of Sarah Lamb Gross (plot 5) & the Capt's son, also Micah Gross (plot 4). I've posted pics of their graves on as well.

Now that I've figured out about where he should be, I'll go back over to Quabbin (short drive of 5-10 mins) some afternoon & look again. Gravesite 112 also has Gross family members, some of whom married Eddy's & I've taken pics of that site as well. see 'Sarah C Gross Eddy'.

I got the plot #s from Ancestry in the Quabbin Park records & while I was there I hunted to learn more about Ben F, but found nothing...seems odd since he lived to be 5.

Most of my photography work is at Quabbin Park since I've always been fascinated with the story of the towns being flooded & folks being dug up and re-interred in 1933 before the reservoir was filled. Sometimes I simply take pics of interesting stones & try to fill in information from Ancestry.

I will let you know what I find after going back to the cemetery.

RE: Grosses
What I find interesting is that Clement is not named in any ancestors that I have found, and that is unusual. Isaac and Edmund are named quite frequently in the ancestry lines.

Hi, We are also from Ebenezer. Our line is 1. Simon c-1650 Hingham, MA; 2. Micah 1676 Hingham to Truro, MA; 3. Ebenezer 1713 Truro, MA, 4. Ebenezer 1737 Truro, MA to Orland, ME; 5. John 1766, Truro, MA to Orland, ME; 6. Edward Trueworthy 1796 Orland, ME;
7. Amos Treat 1832 Bucksport, ME; 8. Alexis Edward 1875 Frankfort, ME; 9. Lloyd Osborne 1908 Belfast, ME; 10. myself b. Camden, ME. Now living in Connecticut. Many say Simon was son of Clement but there is no proof of his birth. That is my brick wall. Do you have any more info than I do?

I'm a bit late, but, I want to "Thank You" for acquiring and posting the headstone photos. Great shots, both close-up and distant. I will use them in my research and credit you for the photos...

RE: Benjamin Gross
That's very thoughtful of you! Glad I could help. I don't think I have any Ben Grosses in my family tree.

RE: Benjamin Harris
I have seen that one, but my only issue is that he seems to still be alive in the 1870 Census, living with his son Benjamin and my relative Albion. It's a real mystery. At least at that time, we can't say the family was still cashing his Social Security checks in 1870...there wasn't any SS then.
Love your sense of humor.
