Bio

Many of my Willis relatives are buried in the Kirwin Cemetery (KS). The cemetery overlooks an area that once was my Dad's parent's farm. His parents were Ulysses S. Grant Willis and Grace Brewer Willis. Grandpa Grant died when Dad was in high school. I was 11 years old when Grandma Grace died. I knew all of my Dad's brothers and sisters. His oldest sister, Jane Willis (Swartz) is buried in the Kirwin Cemetery along with her husband (my uncle) Roy Swartz. My great grandparents and all of Grandpa Grant's brothers and sisters except two (Flora Morse and Paul Willis) are buried in the Kirwin Cemetery as well. George W. and Annie Cook Willis and nine of their 11 children: Adelbert, Phoebe (Scott), Fred, Grace (Ragsdale), Ruby (Stagg), U. S. Grant, Henry, Thomas, and Garnett Willis. My Dad (Warren W. Willis) and Mom (Helene Jensen Willis) are buried in Kirwin as well. I am the oldest of their children and have four brothers and a younger sister: Keith, Dale, Dean and Wayne Willis and Angela Willis (Patton). I am retired and living in Colorado Springs. I enjoy genealogy and the Kirwin Cemetery holds a special place in my heart. There is much family history there. My family wishes to thank Barbara Bowman for all of her assistance in organizing our Willis family's history. - Janet Willis Weidner - 5/25/15
