I love the old cemeteries and they are disappearing. Some in my area are grown up with trees, they actually are in woods. Stones are broken or completely gone. My ancestors are in these cemeteries and they are disappearing also. I plan on recording info and taking photos, as I can, before those that are left becomes history. Seeing this tells me there are thousands of graves that are forever gone already. I would be happy to turn over management of a memorial that isn't in my direct ancestry lineage. Please don't be offended if it is and I do not want to give it up. |

Any idea where his brother Ural Townsend might be buried or what happened to him?
|Cliff Blanchard||Memorial Deleted|
Shelia, I deleted the memorial I established for Anna Lois Hart McChesney. I had a feeling she was still alive. Thanks!

Shelia, Please look at the memorial I established in Silent Run Cemetery, and tell me if it's correct. I researched her name, and I found another Anna L. Hart who died on 31 May 2008 in West Virginia (?).

Shelia, I visited Hopkins County the last week of June in an effort of finding my long lost relatives. I walked Beulah, Old Beulah, Grapevine, Odd Fellows and Silent Run. I found many of my family in Beulah and Old Beulah.
I enjoyed your memorials, and especially the history found in your memorial notes. I added photos when needed. I hope you like what I posted.
Keep searching, and continued success.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply and all the work you do. I was sure hoping to find some proof for John Barnes. So far no answer to my inquiry. My gggrandmother, Nancy Baynes married John Barnes and according to Acardia Records was buried there in 1890. Kentucky Genealogical Society has her listed in their Vol 4 so I assume they had some proof. Seems odd that John McKee Barnes would be buried there when he lived in Hopkinsville and died in Stewart TN. In his bio there is no mention of Arcadia or even Dawson Springs. I was hoping someone found John Barnes and just used that for their burial site.
I visited the Cemetery 2 years ago and it is in terrible shape, and right in the center of town!
Very few readable stones left. I think the city mows and that is about all. Graves inside fences were not maintained at all. It is a shame.

Your Cemetery Photo is being used on John McKee Barnes Memorial #169250174 created by Tom Childers. I have a Vol 4 Hopkins Co Cemeteries published by Hopkins Co Genealogy and Arcadia Cemetery does not have a John Barnes buried there.
Do you know how Mr Childers came upon this information? My GGGrandmother Nancy Baynes Barnes is buried there and my GGGrrandfather was named John Barnes. Nothing in the Memorial fits my John Barnes. Can you just add a name to the Cemetery without any documents to back it up?
John McKee Barnes lived in Hopkinsville and was a Minister there but died in Stewart Co TN. Nancy and John are the only Barnes buried there.
Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

I am making a trip over to that area this month and was wondering if you could tell me if Buckner Pettypoole or Matilda Faulkner Pettypoole Find A Grave Memorial# 60743751 has a headstone or marker of any kind. Thank you.

You've done GREAT work on these memorials- THANK YOU :-)
DO you happen to have, or know who has, any information showing that Sophia Jennings is the daughter of Col William Jennings. You have great info on this memorial- but I need some back-up source.
I'd be grateful for any help or leads that you might be able to give me.

|Richard Walker||Robert Barnabus "Robin" Sisk|
Robert "Robin" Sisk was my 3rd g grandfather via my 2nd g grandmother Eleanor Sisk Price (1824 Hopkins, Ky - abt 1880 Sevier, Arkansas) via my g grandmother Nancy E Price Walker (1846 Hopkins, Ky. - 1884 Hopkins, Ky.). I would like to correspond with you if you desire. I do not see Eleanor Sisk Price listed as a child on the findagrave register for Robert "Robin" Sisk and wife Mourning ???? Sisk.
Eleanor Sisk married John J Price (1823 Tennessee - Jul 1870 Hopkins, Ky.) on 8 Jun 1841.
