Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogical research since 1984. I retired from the Air Force in 1994. I recently got my Researcher ID Card for Maine Vital Records. I am a member of the Maine Old Cemeteries Association, the New England Historic Genealogical Society, and the Buckfield Historical Society. I am also Historian and Past Commander of John D. Long Post #58, American Legion, Buckfield, Maine. I am a son of Donald Mackay Cooper and Ruth Marcelyn Hersey.

I am happy to help with volunteer photos for the Disabled Volunteer Soldiers from all over the country who lived at the Eastern Branch of the Old Soldiers Home who died there and were buried in Togus National Cemetery. I have gotten permission slips to take photos there since 2010. I research the soldiers I take gravestone photos of using my "Togus National Cemetery" family "tree" on to submit information from Togus admission records and use info from my photos to add gravestone tran scrip tions and co ordinates. It takes a while to do this, especially these days with slowdowns on the internet, so I am not able to gravestone photos of all names requested on alphabetical lists.

Lately I have been having difficulty keeping up with edits on findagrave. I have never been a great typist, but I used to be able to type more than ONE WORD PER MINUTE! Like everyone else, I am only human and can make mistakes... but I have caught several edits from novices trying to change correct information to incorrect information. If we don't catch it within 21 days... it gets Accepted automatically. It would be nice if findagrave could add a category for edits "Edits that have been sent to me that were AUTOMATICALLY ACCEPTED"

I am going to have to start cutting back on Findagrave. Unfortunately, the only way to use Findagrave is by using the Internet... and that is getting harder and harder to do as it gets more and more cluttered, and takes longer and longer to do even the simplest things.

Often it cause my computer to "freeze up" so that I have to pull the plug and yank out the battery!

The Klingons have taken over the ship! Time to initiate the "auto-destruct sequence" and beam down to some log cabin somewhere and go back to reading books!

Thanks for replying. May I ask what you mean by: memorials "were dumped" into Norway Pine Grove Cemetery.

Simeon Getchell
Hi Tim & Grace,

I noticed you added a bunch of memorials to the Joseph Getchell Memorial Cemetery in Marshfield, Maine earlier this year. I am wondering if you now think that the listing is complete? I am looking for my 4x great grandparents, Simeon and Betsey (Bowker) Getchell. Simeon is the son of Joseph Getchell, the patriarch of that cemetery. It seems likely that they would be buried there since records show he died in Marshfield and she died in nearby Machias.

I'm hoping to walk the cemetery when I visit home (Machias) in August, but would be excited if the links are found before then.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Ingham & Wheeler families
Hello Tim & Grace -

Are either of you related to this Ingham-Wheeler family? If so, I have questions about them I'd like to run by you. Trying to connect different branches.

RE: Peter Pushors in Ridge Road Cemetery
I understand how you feel about adding Sr. I have mixed feelings about both ways so there is no problem.

Story Family
So far I have census scans from 1870, 1900, 1910 for the Story family, a Washburn veteran record for James W, Delbert's 1918 WWI registration, a 1790 Fairfax census for Joseph Beeman, and photos of the stone house built for him in 1795 that's still standing.

Story Family
Hi Tim,
Thanks for getting back to me, sorry for my delayed response. I was referring to James Monroe Story born in 1838. I've tracked much of the Story and Beeman lines directly related to my husband through FindAGrave so I really appreciate all of your work. I'm really interested in his military career. Right now I'm also looking at Joseph Beeman's history in Fairfax, VT.

Yes, Frances McIlwaine is my husband's grandmother. She's 87 now and living on Cape Cod. Her daughter Heather is my mother-in-law. Ideally I'm looking for scans of records that I can show her. She is delighted to have photos of Delbert and James. She has a published book about the history of Washburn that has a couple photos of Daisy. She fondly remembers "OK" (Owen Story).

I would love to be able to do more leg work myself but I'm living in Germany right now for my husband's job.

Thanks again,
