Bio and Links
Bio Photo Feel free to use any of the pictures I've added. I visit cemeteries when I can for the love of it, not the recognition on findagrave by adding pictures and claiming 'copyright'. What upsets me are the 'don't copy' people with poor quality pictures. If you're so proud of them make sure they're perfect. One of my pet peeves are the headstones that the photographer did not even bother to clean the debris and leaves off to make the headstone readable. Come on, it's a small thing to do. Yes, I've spent, time, gas and had many aches and pains to take pictures but I don't believe that gives me the right to deny the use of my pictures (especially for family trees) since a majority of the time I'm not related. I'll transfer any memorial I've created except the ones related to me personally or to an unknown burial. Unknown burials should not even be on this website. I'm disturbed by the FAG guidelines of transfer and that some members are so hardcore about them. I have a great-aunt and an uncle that had no children and a member will not transfer them to me even though they manage over 75,000 memorials and are not related. Guess numbers mean more to some people. Use a little common sense people.

One thing I do ask is PLEASE do not put death certificates on any memorial I have created.

My daughter and I are researching African American WWI Veterans in many East Texas counties. I would love to hear from any family members of these forgotten heroes. The counties are Anderson, Angelina, Bowie, Camp, Cass, Chambers, Cherokee, Delta, Fannin, Franklin, Gregg, Hardin, Harrison, Henderson, Hopkins, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Lamar, Liberty, Marion, Montgomery, Morris, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Rains, Red River, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Smith, Trinity, Tyler, Upshur, Van Zandt, Walker and Wood. We started with one county and it has mushroomed to 43, identifying over 11,000 (so far). My daughter, Dr. Lila Rakoczy, is on the Texas WWI Centennial Commission and organizing a WWI traveling African American WWI memorial wall to visit several venues for 2017/2018. See the website at

Please check dates. Looks like # 100834750 may be the husband and # 100834693 may be their son.

Thanks for passing on that military headstones can be replaced free of charged when they are missing or in bad condition. I am aware of that and have done it for a family member in the past, But I am not related to this person and do not know any family for him, Wish I did.

Thomas Pennington
Thanks for the correction on Thomas Pennington's bio. That bio belonged to another Thomas Pennington I created both with fathers William and mothers Petty. I have to be more careful.

Whillock not whitlock
I believe you have the wrong parents for Ruby Whillock, wife of Austus Wilson Allison
They are Jacob Whillock and Ethel, but I don't yet know their burials.
I will advise when I find them
Thanks for all you do.

RE: Willie Ratcliff
I am researching all WW I Veterans from Shelby County, Texas and will let you know if I come up with anything. Record keeping wasn't an exact science back then for sure. Thanks for all you are doing to insure they are not forgotten.

Ref Memorial 67067923 where you posed a Texas WW I Record. This cannot be the same Willie Ratcliff as he was born in 1908 and would have been 10 years old. I see his stone says WW I but I'm sure that is incorrect also.
