Martindale Cemetery (Walnut) Tippah MS
There is a Mary Martindale tombstone with the date 1862 (if memory serves). This is not for a child. This Mary died in the 1860s and is the mother of Riley, Thomas, Andrew Jackson, Theodore, Claiborne, the oldest son William, as well as 5 daughters, Adeline Owens, Martha E. Moore, Mary Dial, Matilda Alsop, and Betsy. Census records tell us she was born 1780 in Georgia. Husband John dies prior to the 1830 census, leaving Mary with three children under 5, two 5-10, & three 10-15 (Hardeman co, TN). John is the 1st (and only) son of Thomas b.1757 Bucks Co PN and Mary Welch b.NC dau of John Welch. Mary Welch dies in childbirth. Thomas remarries Mary Whitley. From the 1830&1840 census, Mary has a Martha Black living with her. She is John's aunt Martha Martindale NOT Mary's mother as some have speculated. She is Thomas' younger sister b. 1760 Bucks Co, Pennsylvania, and is on many land deeds with their father William (b.1723). I have always thought it a shame that no-one knows who this Mary really is, and she raised 11 children.

Jerry: You have a photo of the public location sign of the Florence Cemetery in Florence [Lauderdale County] Alabama which would like to use for my genealogy records--as I have several family members buried there.

May I please have your permission to copy your photo from for the purpose of using on my site?

Jerry - would you mind posting your picture from this "unknown" Rutherford and placing it under 161348182?

If you do not mind, you can delete this one, as I have all the correct information under the other.
