I have many pictures of NM cemeteries, as I have been collecting them for years - although they are not organized in any fashion. I find NM cemeteries most fascinating, because many are in remote areas and are all that remain of once thriving communities. I have lived in NM almost all my life, and currently reside in Las Vegas. I include my email in order to accommodate corrections and requests, so please feel free to make them.|

Wow. I did not know about the lake!! :) I will have to look into it!
I have been doing genealogy in New Mexico for many years trying to figure out my family history from Trinidad Co, which is my Fathers maternal line (SERVE') which goes back to New Mexico. This line descends from the French Guide, Scout and Interpreter, Jose CHARVET (GERVAIS, SERVE')..and many other spelling variations. He settled in Taos around 1810 with 3 sons from a Pawnee Indian woman. He was on the Spanish payroll and is most known for his travels with Pedro Vial hired by Spain to stop the Lewis and Clark expedition. I have made some great headway but still have many mysteries to solve.
What got me interested in searching out New Mexico ties to my maternal branch was my DNA results and how many MTDNA matches were to people from New Mexico. SURPRISE!
Desmarais is my married name. However, I am familiar with the Desmarais progenitor in New Mexico as he was among the rest of the Fur Trappers and Traders in the Mora/Taos area in the 1800's. I have been told I need to research him and as I'm finding out we are related to most of the French families in the area. Not knowing the origins of our French paternal line will keep us wondering 'how' until we do.
I am most interested in the history of the lake and thank you so much for giving me this interesting tidbit to ponder.
I am amazed about the unforeseen connections between my maternal and paternal lines.
Yours and everyone's contributions to Find a Grave is extreme benefit to so many of us who are trying to solve the challenging mysteries of "what happened" on the Santa Fe trail during these times. Thanks so much again!

Obviously you know I have been adding information in the Masonic Cemetery. I have a couple of free days, so am making use of them! M

I made an entry into Chaperito Cemetery that might be a duplicate. My entry is Memorial # 152671452. Is it a duplicate of your memorial to Sgt. Francisco Martinez?
