Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Fred Zeb Payne, III and I live in Garland, Texas. I am doing genealogical research on the Payne, Boren, Nelson, Talley, Kearby, Raper, Trotter family lines. I am now visiting numerous cemeteries in Texas documenting and photographing headstones related to those family lines.

I have been adding individual pictures as I can to the already established family members listed on Findagrave.

Cemeteries that I am at or will be at are the following: Rockwall Cemetery, Rockwall, TX; Garland (Mills) Cemetery, Garland, TX; Wylie Cemetery, Wylie, TX; Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Sachse, TX; Sudan Cemetery, Sudan, TX; Morton Memorial Cemetery, Morton, TX; Plains Cemetery, Plains, TX and Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Nolanville, TX.

Please feel free to contact me if you have needs in any of those cemeteries and I will try to help. If you have any ties to my family lines, PLEASE contact me as well.

RE: Garland and Mills Cemetary information...
It's a gift to finally get in touch with someone from old Garland. Truth is I'm still digesting what you sent. I'm working late as a Science teacher; just that time of year. . . Let me get back with you when I'm caught up!

Garland/Mills Cemetery
Hello Zeb Payne of Garland, Texas.

I have lived near Mills Cemetery for 20+ years. I've attended zoning hearings, etc. I've talked to Mills family about a city land sale on old Centerville Rd.

I recall no one referring to Garland Cemetery, even though the signs are there (and your photo work is appreciated). Only 'Mills Cemetery' is in common usage in my experience. Admitted, I am not a Garland native. There does not seem to be an FG consensus. Would combining the names Mills Garland Cemetery in historical order work? Don't know how that would affect searches. Any thoughts?

Also, are you related to Michael Payne living in Rowlett who has a couple of kids at the HS there?

Thanks for any historical assistance,
Jim Shropshire

Payne's in Rockwall
Please forgive me for taking so long to get these transferred to you. I don't check my old e-mail very often plus my security settings were not letting me do anything with Find a grave. I got them all transferred today. Glad that you found their memorials.

William W. Strickland family portrait
I wanted to thank you SO much for sharing the family portrait of William Wallace "Buck" Strickland. It's the first our family has seen of GGGrandfather Strickland! And the only clear photo I've seen of GGGrandmother Mary! And the youngest of my Great Grandpa Harry/James! I'm GIDDY over this! Thank you!!!

RE: Welborn/Payne
You are very welcome! I hate to see Church cemeteries not take care of the headstones better, you know they just let them sink and allow them to be covered or over really just burns me to no end. Ok enough, I am going to reach out to one of the caretakers and talk to him about it. I don't see any reason why they couldn't lift the headstone out and fill it in with some dirt and either set it upright or allow it to lie flat.

I should be back over in a few days to dig out William's headstone.

Have a great night!

William Welborn
Good morning Zeb,

The photo I have left for Wm Welborn is his site, you just can't see the stone from the picture I had my fingers touching the stone. I unearthed Rachel's headstone from under 3 inches of grass and dirt, and then it started lighting and raining and with a shovel in my hand I felt the need to run...I will return in a few days to finish. I apologize for posting the other photo. I have started photographing the entire cemetery as well, there are plenty of Welborn's and Payne's there at Spring Hill do they belong to you as well?

Have a great day!
