Thank you for the suggested date changes. I just need a justification for your death year selection. Was your source the picture? it seems the year can be 1885 maybe 1886, but how did you get 1883? Can you clear this up? Thanks, Mike

Greetings,

Find A Grave contributor BBW has made a suggestion to you regarding your Find A Grave memorial for Harriet Stillman Russell.
Link to memorial: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=22552064

Their suggestion:
-------------------------
I took a photo of Harriet's grave and went to put it on findagrave. I couldn't find a memorial for her and so was going to create one. I looked her name up on familysearch.org, and noticed she had a memorial already. I was puzzled why it didn't come up when I searched, and then I notice you have Stillman Russell as her last name. Findagrave guidelines are to put the most current last name at death and then to put prior marriages in the bio. Just a suggestion, as perhaps others might also create a memorial for her if they can't find one under her name Harriet Russell.
I was going to post another photo of her headstone, since it appears a lot more deteriorated than when you took yours, but decided not to.
Best Regards,
Brenda

Thanks for your kindly suggestion. I知 grateful to you for taking the effort on behalf of my (3G) Grandma Harriet. May I respond, though, from another perspective? I have both my Mayflower and my SAR lineages documented through her first marriage to Jason Stillman. I知 eager that my Stillman kin know as much as I can feed them about her heritage and (poignant) history. If her Russell relatives are unaware that she was first a Seymour, then a Stillman, and finally a Russell, I知 sorry about that. Yes, she痴 buried with the Russells (a few yards from where Valerie and I will soon repose), and I知 not depriving her of that connection, but my interest lies in the Stillman direction.

As for the guidelines, this is the first time I recall encountering them, but I do plead guilty to perusing a very small fraction of the fine print to which I 鄭gree on-line. If I thereby offend FindAGrave, I知 sorry. They can kick me out of their system (and do without my volunteer service), if they choose: I壇 be sorry for that, too. I do believe she壇 be harder for Stillmans to find, if I adopted your recommendation. Were I making 鍍he rules, I壇 have Find A Grave Memorial# 14169203 for my step-grandmother follow her tombstone and be headed "Vera Knapton Wilson Neff Seely Sheffield, in preference to the current "Vera Knapton Sheffield, in conformity to the guidelines. She痴 a personal heroine, having seen four husbands through the care that their painful and extended final days necessitated.

Thanks again for your concern, but I really don稚 see a memorial to Harriet Seymour Russell doing the job for her grateful Stillman descendants.

Blessings,
