Bio Photo MISSION: I believe Find A Grave's mission first and foremost is to document cemeteries; to accurately record graves, not to build one's family tree.

Find A Grave FAQs says: Find a Grave's mission is to find, record and present final disposition information from around the world as a virtual cemetery experience.

Memorial contributions to Find A Grave should fulfill that mission - registration of the final disposition. If the memorial contribution corresponds with only the main mission, then the memorial fulfills its purpose as part of Find A Grave's mission.

Find a Grave memorials [may] contain rich content including pictures, biographies and more specific information. Members can leave remembrances via 'virtual flowers' on the memorials they visit, completing the virtual cemetery experience.

TRANSFERS (PLEASE READ): Per Find A Grave FAQs, Transferring of management should only be requested If you have extensive changes to make to a memorial. You can add photos and suggest corrections without having to request management. Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree.

Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Explain your relationship in the request! Any non-direct relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred.

I will consider making out-of-guideline transfers on a case-by-case basis. Please tell me your specific relationship to the one you want transferred to you. I need specifics not vague statements such as this is my family member, my relative or they are in my family tree. IF YOU AREN'T SPECIFIC, I WILL IGNORE/DELETE YOUR REQUEST. Please be considerate when asking.

This is guidelines set forth by Find A Grave. If you don't agree with them, please take it up with Find A Grave.

RE: Robert Gropp Edit
The issue is the children were born at home in Lincoln. Some listed Marshfield as their birth place, some used Lincoln. To me, the important part is that he was born in Wood County and I'm not too picky about which town is used.

He's actually my wife's direct line, but I wouldn't mind. Thanks for the prompt response!

Not a problem, I didn't notice until I added a memorial for his wife and found I had made a duplicate. All's well now. Dale

Thanks for letting me know. I have removed it from her memorial and I have made a note to take a photo of Emily's tomorrow when I go to pick up the flowers. I only wished I could be perfect. Just kidding. Thanks again. Henry

Thanks for letting me know you plan to remove the list of survivors from my uncle's memorial so I could copy it first, which I did.

I appreciate your respect for the privacy of the living.

I read Find-A-Grave's FAQ about the privacy of the living. One section says contributors should "refrain from adding information about living people". However, another section says those names would be removed "upon request".

Since obituaries are published in print and online, that's public information so it seems to me it would be OK to leave the obituary as is. If anyone asked me to remove a name of a living person from a memorial I manage, I would certainly consider it.

Would you consider transferring the memorial to me before you remove any names?

Thanks for sharing about the losses of those you love. My husband Bob also passed away in 2005. This life is very short. We pray that we'll all be together someday with Our Lord forever!

Thank you for creating the memorial and making the edits. I think the way you handled the Spring Green/Plain issue is good!

I'd be honored to manage my uncle's memorial, if that's OK with you.

My niece Keria was born the day he died. My mom, dad, cousin, her husband, and I visited him that day and played euchre with him. He couldn't shuffle the cards but he won a lone hand and won the game! He passed away quietly and quickly just a few hours later in the home where he lived for decades.

My dad died 6 months later. My mom had a severe stroke 5 months after that and died almost 3 years later. We never know when God will call us home.

Thanks for your response. Erv is my uncle. I visited him the day he died which was on his farm outside of Plain WI. But his mailing address was Spring Green. Thus the confusion. You can use whatever you think is best.
