Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started looking for my roots several years ago. What a neat hobby this is. I discovered the Find a Grave website during my family member searches on Ancestry.com. I have really enjoyed walking through old cemeteries not only looking for my ancestors but also find it rewarding helping others find a loved one from their past.

RE: Hankins
Thank you but not nesessary I will probably go there and check it out, about where in the cemetary is the grave? I get that way about once a month or so. Sometimes in a big truck but every once in a while in a van. If I can help you out on the west side of Cuyahoga or in Medina or Lorain county let me know. Thanks again Bill.

Hankins
Thanks so much, I could not find anything out since all in my side of the family that knew about him are gone now. My grand mother was his daughter. They didn't see him after he was divorced from my great grand mother. Again thanks,
Bill

Everything I currently have photos for are on the site. There are many listed as 'Unknown' as they are very hard to read.

Please review the Find A Grave requirements to request a transfer. If Margaret meets those requirements I'll gladly transfer.

RE: Elizabeth Stevenson
FamilySearch is free and looks for many different kinds of records simultaneously. I don't have a subscription to Ancestry.com, so I can't make a comparison. (As you probably know, Ancestry recently bought Find A Grave.) If you're interested in trying HeritageQuest, you probably don't have to go to the brick-and-mortar library. Check your library's web site. See if they have a tab for genealogy and/or local history, and see if they have tabs for databases. I access HeritageQuest from home by entering my regular library card number into the library's web site. With HeritageQuest, you have to enter the exact spelling they have indexed to get a "hit." With FamilySearch, you can enter a spelling that's close, but not exactly the one they have indexed, and you may still get a hit. I don't know how Ancestry.com's indexing system works. Frequently if I can't find somebody using one site, I can find them using another. They key is to persevere.

RE: Elizabeth Stevenson
No problem, Nancy. We were all beginners once. You know how to find census images on FamilySearch? I often use HeritageQuest (through my local library), but they don't have the 1850 census, and the census image I posted on the Nancy Stevenson memorial was (as you've discovered by now) an 1850 census image. When I put the census images on F.A.G., I generally crop a lot out, because I want what's left to be large enough to read. So, you should look at the full image. ~ Jay

RE: Elizabeth Stevenson Memorial
Hi Nancy. I just used the F.A.G. index to search for the name Elizabeth Stevenson so I could see the census you're talking about, but there are 450 memorials for people named Elizabeth Stevenson, and I don't know how to find the one you are talking about. I'd need one or more clues -- a memorial number, a place, her dates, or something. As for the date of the census, I usually would put that into the caption for the census image. You know how to open that up, right? I'm delighted if a census image is helpful to you. That's what F.A.G. is all about -- helping one another. ~ Jay

RE: Margaret Young
It was off of the middle road, to the left. Not too hard to find :). Glad I did!
