Came for the genealogy, stayed for the cemeteries. Family lines: Hammel, Smith, Martell and Jones, mostly of Pickaway, Fairfield and Columbiana Counties in Ohio. Kroner, Greiner, Holzberger and Gettle, mostly of southeast Indiana. I also have photos and documents through family connections to the Murray, Heffner, Kiger and Riegel families of Pickaway and Fairfield Counties in Ohio. |
I operate two Facebook pages for the local history of Shanesville (now part of Sugarcreek) and Baltic, Ohio. I also handled most of the editing and writing of "Shanesville: 200 Years On The Hill", which was published in August 2014. If you need any help with ancestors in either of these two towns, I'd be happy to try to help. The Facebook pages can be found at:
I will consider sharing my photos with those who have the decency to ask. I may also have further information on the family names listed above, and am always happy to hear from distant relatives.
I've chosen not to display my email address for reasons of privacy and security. Please contact me via "suggest a correction" through the appropriate memorial or leave a message on my profile page. Thanks!

Glen, You have and are doing a fine job. I have had a fun making runs to Pickaway Co. and putting together (still in the process) my husbands Heffner/Warner family and the Mausoleum is so full of history. This project started with my mother-in-law Helen Louise Heffner Smith (#44362676). Your time and dedication to Find A Grave is greatly appreciated. Thanks again, Kay #46534307

I added some memorial pictures for Flora Alice Heffner Hook #65560515 and her family. The lighting in the Mausoleum was not the best and I also needed a ladder. You also have one edit to review for me. Please feel free to add any photo's, corrections or additions. Your time and dedication to Find A Grave is greatly appreciated! Kay #46534307

Hi Glen- Today is the first time I'm researching this line. I will let you know what I find for sure, but just found another record showing Michael as her father but not sourced. I will be in the neighborhood of the cemetery in a few days for the first time and look forward to stopping there.
Thanks again for all your good work.- Kim
Those Germans are so confusing when they keep giving their children the same names.

Hi Glen- First- thank you for all your wonderful work. I just have a question or two. I'm trying to research Susan Geiselmann Correll (my 5x grgrandmother) Find A Grave Memorial# 99828240. I have found conflicting information from what I believe is her father's will. I could very well be wrong, but I think George and Marie may be her uncle and aunt. I found a will record for a Michael Geiselman with her and her husband Jacob Correl named. So, I was wondering where you got the posted information so I could compare notes.
Thanks for any help you can provide. I can send you what I have found if you would like.
Thanks again- Kim Frank

Thanks for the speedy reply and please forgive my typo.
Yes, this is the correct party and she is well documented dau. of Daniel Keyser.
I've only personally added 327 memorials, not 1,858 of graves of non-relatives. Yet I have added 598 photos to my relatives site and continue. Have also done over 6,000+ approved corrections/additions to existing relatives memorials, created by well meaning non-relatives such as yourself. These being all to my direct relatives/ancestors which I have diligently researched for the past 30+ yrs. Yes there have been 40 of the 6,040+ memorial creators such as yourself who felt I was infringing on the memorial they created and refused to link/correct/alter.
I don't GUESS, yet I do use hard documentation. I don't do additions outside my direct lines that are not my kin.
I'm honestly deeply disappointed in your personal narrow mindedness Glen, yet am hopeful when you pass that whomever you have designated as caretaker of the memorials you have so graciously & thankfully created (and I do thank you warmly & deeply for that!) will see fit to link them to their rightful parents so future generations will have a true understanding of their heritage.
You Sir, have my personal deepest sympathies for your misunderstanding of what this site is for, yet my eternal gratitude for you contribution.
Sincerely - Stephen Lee Krou

When they say "Unknown burials resolved within 30 days" they are referring to recent burials not 100 yrs ago. Ancestry.com purchased Find A Grave and it is now a non-issue :)
