I have lived in Northborough,Worcester County, MA for 18 years and have been a genealogist since 2001. As I understand the importance of sharing local information that is inaccessible to other members of the genealogical community, I am available to photograph tombstones in our area upon request.

RE: Brigham
I've been reading your blog. Very interesting stuff. That is quite a project. You definitely need to talk to the next door neighbor. He rattled off a fair share of the Wheeler genealogy for who is related to whom in both cemeteries for a couple of generations backwards and forwards. I don't think he is a relative; he is just a guy that really loves that cemetery and took some time to investigate it. He's kind of the unofficial caretaker.

RE: Brigham Street Old Burial Ground
I know that there are only 4 remaining markers. The gentleman that lives next door (the house on the left as you face the cemetery) is absolutely fascinating to talk to about that little cemetery. I only get out to Marlboro twice a year for a couple of days. I always check who has been added & if time/weather allow go to Howard Street to see if the marker was moved. So far, people have been really nice about moving the memorial once a photo from Howard Street can be produced. They just don't seem to read the cemetery description. I originally got involved because Chip & I share the same plopper (although we are in different parts of the state)& Brigham Street was one of his favorite targets. Chip knew that I would be in Marlboro and asked me to find Brigham Street and determine what was there. Took a while but I eventually found all of those plops (except one) in Howard Street and the plopper moved them to the correct cemetery. His one remaining was my project for my visit at the end of March. Looks like I have to add to the list.

If you have an inventory and the transcriptions, PLEASE add them to the correct cemeteries. Hopefully someone will search first and find the ancestor in the right place.

I can show you what I did with two moved cemeteries in my area, Knightville and Indian Hollow. You can check out how I handled the memorials in both (still works in progress as I find the markers and verify with the town clerk). I checked this out with Mark and it is okay since the remains are in one place and the markers (now cenotaphs) are in the other. If you don't know how to do these kinds of links, let me know. It is really easy.

Thanks for caring about Brigham Street. It is a really sweet little cemetery. I stop by every time I'm in Marlboro.

Brigham Street Cemetery Northborough
Not to be paranoid but I removed my e-mail address after problems with other contributors. Until I know what kind of working relationship is developing, I don't give it out.

So how can I help you with Brigham Street (First Burying Ground)?
