I manage~~not own~~the memorials I place on FindaGrave. Please use the SAC (edit feature) when asking for changes. This prevents mistakes because the edit feature connects me to the right memorial. Please read this ★ ☆ ★ FAQs ★ ☆ ★ before you intentionally make a duplicate of a memorial (which is a no no): I do transfer out of guidelines a lot if I feel you will maintain the memorial you request better than I can ~ which means a beloved aunt, cousin, best friend, etc. (Just don't ask for a whole cemetery or a whole list of the same name especially if you happened to find this site and have been a member for a few days). Stick around for awhile - contribute. Although a great place for genealogy this is a GRAVES REGISTRATION SITE!

Permission has been given to GenealogyTrails.com to use my photos for their excellent site.
YES - you have permission to use the photos I took for your personal family files. I would appreciate it if you cited where you found the photo and if possible link back to FindAGrave.com.
However unless you are a nonprofit organization, this is not to be copied & pasted on a commercial site or used for commercial publication without permission.

I love to have additional information to add to the memorials. In winter I go through what I have put up and link families, find additional dates, etc. Although it looks like I have more than I can handle, I have had no problem adding suggested information. I have 35 years of experience in family history research and will be happy to add links or more biographical information on your family.

If you are requesting a photo - all information is helpful. Many people only have flat to the ground memorials, and they are difficult to find. If you know of other family names that might be close by, that is very helpful in large cemeteries. Also if your memorial served in the military, that is very helpful as most cemeteries commemorate with a flag.

I love the challenge of photographing really old stones. I also love the zincs - which were an inexpensive product for the time but have outlasted some of the more expensive marbles and granites. The zincs were very popular during the Prohibition Era because the insides were hollow and easily accessible.

The people we ~meet~ in these resting places are integral in putting together family history. The memorial may be all that is left.

Thank you to all the volunteers who have added photos to my memorials, taken the time to send me information, added their own memorials, found a dupe or two, and have been kind and respectful.

It is so important that if you have an old cemetery near you, to get these stones recorded before weather and/or vandals get to them.
★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★★ ☆
I do try to wipe off debris and pull some overgrown grass out of the way, but I will not harm the stone in any way. Plus I do not pull up flowers, even if they are wilted.
It's a bit of work to take the photos, re size and sometimes enhance the lettering to be made readable, enter names and upload the photos. I do this lovingly. Please respect that.
★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★
I have a camera that takes good photos, however the condition of the stone may make it unreadable or the stone is so damaged that there is no information. Bright sunny days might be good for walks but can wash out headstone inscriptions. I do retakes a lot.

Perry family in West Cemetery
Dear Cynthia,

Thank you so much for transferring to my care the memorials of my Perry family in West Cemetery. It is not known where my 2nd great-grandfather, Philo Beebe Perry, brother of Frederic Perry in West Cemetery, is buried in Texas with my 2nd great-grandmother and their infant and toddler sons. I have no family photos either, but now, thanks to your work and dedication, I feel I can almost reach out and touch Philo's brother's headstone. And now feel even closer to my Perry family.

I read the stories and bios you wrote for your grandparents and parents. I am particularly touched by what you wrote about your grandparents and dad. I can feel the love in your heart and wish I was part of your family. I left them all my hands releasing my white dove.

God Bless you and your family,
Maurene

C Greer,

I am interested in submitting an article for publication and would like to use one of your photos of the tombstone of Thomas Welcher Painter (memorial # 39912615), with proper attribution of course. This would be an unpaid and unsolicited writing assignment for me. Please let me know if this is possible.

Perry family in West Cemetery
Dear C Greer,

Thank you so much for linking and adding birth and death information to my Perry family in West Cemetery. And thank you so much for all that you do here on findagrave to remember those who have passed.

I would be very grateful if you would consider transferring only Frederick Kellogg Perry's memorial #75656674 to my care.

Thank you again,
Maurene

Thanks for the transfer! I am working on his bio.
I have found his 3 wives on Find A Grave (as well as their new husbands). I will post his bio soon.

RE: Ernest Schmith and Edward Nych
Possibly. That was my next search. They were both soldiers in my grandfather's company and all three were corporals.

Ernest Schmith and Edward Nych
I am trying to find the gravesites of Ernest A. Schmith and Edward F. Nych who both lived and I believe, died in Southington, Connecticut. Schmith's parents names were Albert F. Schmith and Bertha Schmith. Ernest was not married. He had two siblings named Edwin and Clifford. He was 75% disabled as a WWI veteran of Company L, 102nd Infantry, 26th "Yankee" Division. Ernest F Schmith was born on December 17, 1895. He died on June 14, 1989 at 93 years of age. Edward Nych was born on August 8, 1899. He died in September 1973 at age 74. They were my grandfather's longtime friends. I would greatly appreciate any information you may find regarding their gravesites.
