Armstrong Cemetery
I want to thank you folks for taking so many pictures of all the gravestones at Armstrong cemetery, near Carmichaels, PA.

I'm descended from John Moore and Hannah Armstrong, who are buried there. I also was the one who added this cemetery to findagrave, in spite of never being there and only having rather vague directions on how to find the place.
I'll make it sometime!!

I'm wondering if you had any difficulty finding it or if you had any additions to the directions for it? Ideally, I'd like to add GPS coordinates I have confidence in being accurate.

Sarah Kirkendall Memorial #44473564
Hi,

Sarah E. Kirkendall was my great grandmother. My records and family stories tell me that her middle name was Elizabeth (I think after her mother, Elizabeth Crawford) and not Ellen as you have posted on her memorial.

I'm really curious as to why you think it was Ellen and wonder if you have records or know something I don't. Many thanks for your help and thank you for making her memorial.

Regards,
Sally Davis (Cape Cod)

Capt. John W. Armstrong
Thanks for getting a good picture put up concerning his recent headstone installation at St. Charles Cemetery. I received a photo of the headstone from the day of installation at the cemetery but it was grainy/blurry at best, and not very legible concerning the engraving.

I worked with one of the members of The Madison County Civil War 150 Committee members to get a gravestone for John W. through the VA in Washington, D.C., this past summer. Much thanks goes to that committee for helping us honor a true Armstrong hero! I have many other photos of the installation and repair process of the headstone (arrived in Winterset broken) if you care to receive them. Is your e-mail on this profile still accurate? I know I've contacted you personally in the past concerning files on John W.'s son, Alexander M. Armstrong, and his relenting custody of his children after Almira's death. Let me know and I can send these to you as well as a copy of the flyer for the tribute event that occurred on July 20, 2013, at St. Charles Cemetery honoring 5 Civil War Veterans from Madison County that included not only John W. Armstrong, but his son-in-law, Oscar Dunbar Allen, and his nephew-in-law, Ovando Murray Horton. Other items I have are a copy of the program from the event, biographies written by this Committee of all 5 veterans honored, and photos from that day's event.

Thanks again for getting this memorial on Find-A-Grave as it was a long time in coming. Much research and work with this Committee allowed us to locate his actual grave site after years of anonymity and finally honor this man.

Thanks,
Dan Armstrong
3rd Great-Grandson of Capt. John W. Armstrong

Obit question
Do you add obits, especially for those who have been deceased 50 yrs or so? I feel the obits give so much info and personality to the memorials that the family has written to be published in honor of their deceased loved one. I love reading about my family member's lives.

Wow
I am speechless. I now know what it feels like to hit the jackpot!!

Thank you very much for tramping around out there and finding the cemetery and getting the photos which you did. My wife and I live in AZ and I sort of figured that if I wanted pictures, I'd have to go take them myself.

I'm the one that through a third party put the cemetery in Find a Grave. I hope that the location was more or less as I indicated. If it wasn't, please let me know what I can change to make it more accurate.

So you are related to the Armstrongs? Hannah Armstrong Moore is my 5th Great Grandmother.

Thanks again for your help.
