I have always been intrigued with the rich history found in cemeteries. My mom always took me (since I was a very small child) with her to put flowers on family members' graves and I suppose that started my love of cemeteries. I am a licensed funeral director/embalmer in MO and IL. I have personally photographed all of the markers at Oak Hill in Kirkwood and am now re-walking each garden to catch any that may have been missed or covered as well. I am using an interment spread sheet that I made for each garden made from the interment books. I have rewalked all of the gardens except New Babyland and the Mausoleum. I did find some markers I missed the first time around and have posted them! Unless the burial is new, if a record doesn't show a marker, it probably does NOT have one. Being an older cemetery, some flat markers may be buried or tablets broken and not repaired. Some of the public lots are in ovegrown wooded areas also. I am trying to list under the inscription section if there is no marker.

In Spring 2016, I plan on returning to the cemetery to walk with my spreadsheet and check each garden AGAIN by section/lot. Please let me know if you have a special request!

I have high numbers because I enjoy spending time in the boneyards with my camera, not because I am a records hoarder! This being said...

*Please note, I will not link family members I have no connection to personally. I don't want to assume and possibly place inaccurate information as fact. If you send me a request to link, I will transfer the record to you so don't be surprised!
*Please ask my permission before using my photos. I am happy to let you use them for ancestry purposes.
Thanks!

Janis

RE: Dr Edward Adelbert Doisy
Agreed! Not only that, but the scientist that shared the Nobel prize with him got a fame rating by Find A Grave while Dr Doisy did not...no equity there!. I already submitted him twice and got rejected; but what I'd like to do is send Find A Grave an email request pointing out that discrepancy. Then maybe they will change their mind and make him famous. Currently my email is not working. Perhaps you can email them? I already wrote up my request to them, but found out my email got hacked. Thanks

Angus Hardy d. 1909
RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 68215319. Angus Hardy, d. 1909. On his memorial is "Accident." What does that refer to? Thank you. I know you enjoy working on this cemetery listing, but I still want to thank you for the time you spend. It is such a help for the rest of us.

May I use the monument photo that you contributed to the Find A Grave Memorial of Edgar Harris, to post on the Vermont Civil War site? ( www.vermontcivilwar.org)
You will receive credit for this.
Thank you for your consideration.

Hugo Arnold
Hi, I noticed you have memorials for a few of my family members buried in Kirkwood Cemetery who did not have grave markers. I am particularly interested in my Great Grandpa, Hugo Arnold(# 86744625) I was wondering if you have further information on him and/or his parents. there is very little oral family history and finding records about him before he came to the US is next to impossible. I'd appreciate anything you might have to offer. Sincerely, Nichole

RE: John Tudor - #28924525
Just sent you several edits as well as the long biographical sketch on John Tudor. Contributor, Rob DeRossett made memorials for several of John Tudor's children. I've not had much luck with Rob responding to my edit suggestions. Therefore, Guy Seymour Tudor is memorial #25828043 and Charles Sherman Tudor is memorial #25828075. Might Rose Hannah be the woman in memorial #95858991??

John Tudor - #28924525
If I go to the trouble of "keying" and sending to you a "biographical sketch" from, "Portrait and Biographical Record of Randolph, Jackson, Perry and Monroe Counties, Illinois" by the Biographical Publishing Company, published 1894, concerning John Tudor, will you consider using the content to expand his FAGrave memorial? I realize the document is not a primary source and therefore, you may be hesitant to rely on it. Laura Duncan
