Thank you very much for the great photo!
|Genealogy Lover||RE: Cassie Flowers|
Thank you. That is what I was trying to investigate.
|Genealogy Lover||Cassie Pemberton Flowers grave photo|
I know this is a long-shot, but you have placed the same headstone photo on two different memorials for the same person, but in two different cemeteries, both in Clinton County KY.
Memorial 73953900 in Locust Grove Cemetery
Memorial 117159269 in Cartwright Cemetery
Do you have any way of knowing at this point as to which cemetery you were in when you photographed this headstone?
Thank you for any help you can give.

Hi Judy, Thank you so much for getting the photo I requested of Norma's stone. As always your kind act is very much appreciated.
|Nesa Smith Clark||RE: Lettie Jones Guffey Neal|
I am not sure if I have already sent you the answer to this puzzle or not but since you were so helpful, I wanted you to know the truth.
Lettie was born to Ephraim Jones and Ann Guffey.
She did marry James Neal. They were married for 20 years. She lived back in the woods by herself not taking to company. The day she died, the woman who looked in on her, Rebecca Guffey, had lost her mother the same day. She was the one who reported the information to the coroner. I have no idea who paid for her headstone to have the name Guffey added. I assume this person looked at the death certificate. The family has known about this a long time and would like to get it changed. That will take dealing with the Department of Vital Statistics and no one really wants to tackle that.
Thank you again for all of your help.

A huge help!
Thanks a million, Judy! :o)
|Jeannie Polson||More graves in Clinton Co. Riddle Cmtry?|
I have a death certificate for Susan Wheler that states she was buried in Riddle Cemetery. She lived in Clinton County so I'm assuming I have the right cemetery. However, I did look through all the other Riddle Cemeteries listed on F.A.G. I don't see her listed anywhere. Any suggestions?
|Nesa Smith Clark||Lettie Jones Guffey Neal|
Yes I have a copy of the death certificate. I know what it says but it is incorrect. The woman, Rebecca Guffey gave the wrong information. She knew Lettie, and her mother-in-law passed the same day. She is the one who reported both deaths.
So both women are reported as daughters of "Levi Guffey."
I don't know how to get this changed. I have contacted other distant family and they are dismayed as well. They know there is a mistake.
I don't know how the Guffey name was put on her headstone, except that the person that did that took her name from her death certificate.
Lettie's parents were Ephraim Jones and Anna Guffey.
From my earlier email I mentioned that she had no contact with her family, but lived alone back in a woods in a cabin by herself after James Neal died.
Perhaps you have some insight on how this may be rectified. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
|Nesa Smith Clark||Lettie Jones Guffey Neal|
No you did not answer my email but I was contacted by another cousin who had a great deal of information of Lettie. She did marry James Neal for 22 years before he died. And the person who signed off on the death certificate had their mother-in-law die the same day. She took care of both deaths. The other woman was a daughter of Levi Guffey. I still don't know how the name Guffey would have appeared on her headstone. There is a book about the family of "E.B.Neal" and it sheds much light on her life at least towards the end. I read that she lived in a cabin far back in the woods by herself after James died and had no communication with her children or grandchildren. That was written by a granddaughter who was alive but never knew her. She lamented that it seemed so sad that her grandmother was out in the woods all alone.
I tried to contact KYroots and she is no longer taking messages.
Thank you so much for contacting me. I truly appreciate all you do.
Hi Judy. I just emailed you.
Were you married to Gerald?
I am married to Gerald's son.
We have been looking for family and information about his family now that we have 2 kids of our own.
