Thank you very much for creating the memorial for Sylvester Campbell and adding the photograph. He was the first husband of my great-grandmother and probably didn't live to know of the birth of his son just three days before his death.
I am glad to know where he rests.

Pensioner's name: Caroline Leather, nee Conrad "widow" Residence Fairfield, OH; PO Amanda, Ohio.
Mustered into serviced the 27 day of Sept. 1864 at Circleville, OH to serve a one year term.
Soldier admitted to the hospital 16 April 1865 for gunshot wounds to the right thigh received in action and death occurred in hospital on 23 April 1865; Morehead City, NC. Died at New Bern NC of disease contracted in the line of duty.

note: His leg was amputated above the knee and became infected. In the Pension file is a
letter he wrote his wife saying he hoped he will make it back home.
