Your tombstone stands among the rest
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished marble stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood and bone
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so
I wonder if you lived and loved
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come to visit you
"The Soldier's Grave" Tread lightly, 'tis a soldiers grave, a lonely, mossy mound; and yet to hearts like mine and thine it should be holy ground. Speak softly, let no careless laugh, No idle, thoughtless jest, Escape your lips where sweetly sleeps the hero in his rest. For him no reveille will beat when morning beams shall come; for him, at night, no tattoo rolls its thunders from the drum. Tread lightly! For a man bequeathed, were laid beneath this sod, His ashes to his native land, and His gallant soul to God. ~Pearl Rivers~
As I stumble through this life,
help me to create more laughter than tears,
dispense more happiness than gloom,
spread more cheer than despair.
Never let me become so indifferent,
that I will fail to see the wonders in the eyes of a child,
or the twinkle in the eyes of the aged.
Never let me forget that my total effort is to cheer people,
make them happy, and forget momentarily,
all the unpleasantness in their lives.
And in my final moment,
may I hear You whisper:
"When you made My people smile,
you made Me smile."

Hi, I am the great granddaughter of William R. Handy Born August 31st 1895 and died July of 1962. I found his name and where he was buried on here, do you live in south Florida, if so and it is anyway possible I would love a picture of his headstone. I also sent you some edits and a relationship link for him.

Thank you for posting the picture of my grandparents grave marker at Woodlawn North Cemetary in Miami. I noticed that the marker was about to fall off its foundation and was able to contact relatives in Florida to have it corrected. I posted a new picture to reflect its current condition but have been unable to remove yours. Can you take care of that?

Robert; thanks for allowing me to add a picture of Herb Whaler to his memorial. I've attached a photograph that originally came from a pamphlet printed in 1926 titled "Safety and First Aid", used as a fundraiser for the Miami Firemen's Relief Fund, used to support sick firefighters and their families, before there was health insurance or pensions. Thanks again.

Good Afternoon! I just was going thru my names here and discovered that you so wonderfully uploaded images of my Great Grandparents graves. I am not sure if I ever said Thank You.
I apologize if I didn't say it sooner. I had no idea that photos had been uploaded to their Memorial pages. I Thank You for your time in obtaining photos for me.
Thank you again!!

Thanks for the input. After you delete the memorial you created for Ila Paunee Rigsby Bagby, I would love it if you posted your memorial photo on her original memorial.

Robert; I have some personal information and photos for Hebert Whaler that I would like to add to his information, if you don't object.
He was an early resident of Miami, FL; a jeweler and owner of one of the original telephone systems, as well as one of the first Fire Chiefs of the Miami Volunteer Fire Department. I think it would be nice for that information to be included.
Please advise and thanks in advance.

Robert, it is uncanny how we added the same person so close together. However, there is now a duplicate. Would you please add your photo to my memorial and delete yours. Thank you.
