I have long, long connections with Wilkes County, NC. I grew up in upper Virginia, the D.C. area to be exact, and would visit here from time to time with my dad, who was born in Wilkes County. In 1967, we moved to CA and I married in 1970 and moved to Oregon where I lived until 2000. At that time, I moved back to CA to help with my parents. Each year, we would visit during late September/early October for family reunions and about two years ago, daddy and mother were getting tired of things in CA in the Bay Area and started thinking about moving. We looked at property in Wilkes County and last September found the home we now live in. We moved from CA to "home" and the moving van pulled up on Dec. 26 of 2007 and in we moved! We are glad to be home among family and friends and while I have never lived here before, it feels like home since my roots go back to the 1770's here and I feel like I know all there is to know about Wilkes (which, I'm sure, is not true!) But, here I am and since I am caregiver for my 90-year old dad and 85-year old mother, (who has since passed away on June 11 2009), I don't work and have some free time on my hands. I am going to attempt to photograph Wilkes County cemeteries over time and since findagrave was so helpful to me, I am happy to be able to add to the lists. I am willing to help with questions and answers about Wilkes cemeteries and history, but cannot guarantee I will do it in "your time". lol I love this website and appreciate all the great contributors.

Foster Family Cemetery
In 2014 there was a dedication for two Foster Civil War Veterans in what was called the Foster Family Cemetery in Wilkes County, NC. There are also Death Certificates showing burials in this cemetery. These tombstones have not been located and there are many Foster Cemeteries in Wilkes County. A Find A Grave cemetery search for a cemetery by this name comes up blank. It must have another name in the Find A Grave memorials? Can you help? I sent you several private email messages with no reply.

Thank You for your help. The research I am doing is on my husbands side. The Wyatts his maternal grandfather Alfred Wyatt, who moved to Tennessee.

Hello possible family
Hi, I am Donna McHargue Grant. My father is Melvin McHargue, born in Trap Hill to (Mary?) Gladys Baugass McHargue/Flowers and Millard Lee McHargue. My Great Grandfather was named Charlie Baugass, He moved to Detroit to work in car factory most of his life. Moved to Florida after retirement and passed away, there I can find the name of the town, if you would like it. There was I think a Curtis (teenager) that was killed in a car accident, while in high school. And a J.D. that I think my father said was sherriff at one time.
I would love to correspond with you, for possible answers to many questions for both of us. Thank you for your time.

Charles Junior CHildress
Hi- you photographed Charlie Childress and wife Marie at Yellow Hill Cemetery. I am trying to find where their son Charles Junior Childress is buried. Would you happen to know if he is there? he was born in 1950 and died in 2008. I can't find an obit for him anywhere online - just birth and death dates. he was a friend of mine. Just wondered of you knew. Thanks. ( I have no contact/message - you can reply via any edit feature on any of my memorials - if you happen to know anything).

Fanny McNiel Brown Eller #51279755
You have an incorrect marriage order on her memorial. According the NC Marriage Index, Fanny McNiel married Simeon Eller 16 Apr 1817 and she married Isaac Brown 06 Sep 1851.

Aaron Wyatt
I am so hoping you can help me. I came across your name from the George Wyatt (1807-1889) find a grave site. I am searching all my loose ends trying to find a source for the connection of David Wyatt (1799-1871) and Aaron Wyatt (1765-1831). My great great grandfather was David Wyatt, but I have no sources that prove that Aaron was his dad. Do you have anything that could help me?
