Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired naval officer. I am addicted to genealogy. I love puttering around in cemeteries, even if I don't know any of the people there personally. I like to find and meet new cousins that I didn't know previously and share genealogical info with them. If you go back far enough, we are all cousins.

Families I am particularly interested in include:
Zellner, Coffey, Harrell, Welch, Hayes, Rucker, Hipsher/Hipshire, Lorenz, Slocum, and Adams.
I have a special interest in the genealogy of many of the families who settled in Grainger County, Tennessee. They intermarried early and often, and if you are kin to any of them, you are likely kin to all of them.
The Millers were Volga Germans who immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1875. I have lots of information on them and the other Volga German families they intermarried with. I am happy to share with anyone who is researching that area.

I am always happy to transfer to a relative, even a distant one (unless they are my relatives, too!). I don't mind managing all the records I have created, but I am more than happy to transfer them to someone else with a direct interest to manage.

Feel free to use any photo I have posted. I wouldn't have posted them, if I didn't want to share.

Good Hunting!

I am trying to find Buford's wife Mildred. She should have been next to him when you created it in 2008. Is it possible to have missed her marker? I would like to add her but wanted to ask what you think about it.

Thank You
Thank you for the photo and memorial info for Walter J Smith and Mary Alice Smith at Ryan cemetery in Jefferson county, Oklahoma. Thanks to you, my wife now knows the names of her paternal great-grandparents. May God richly bless you and yours.

RE: Eules/Ules Edgar Smith
Hi Rick,
I am not related to him but am just looking at his line for a friend, so I don't feel strongly. On the 1900 U S census he is living with his family in Greene county, TN. But, in 1910 he is on the Knox county census. He married in Knox county, his wife died in Knoxville, he registered for the WWI draft in Knoxville, and he died in Knox county. So I'm just guesstimating it was the Midway in Knox county. I defer to your pleasure!

James R Cardwell
On behalf of the Civil War soldier grave registry at the East Tn History Center, I woud like to thank you for this "proof of burial" photo of CSA soldier, James R. Cardwell. It takes so much time and effort to go out into these older, small family cemeteries. Often they are so overgrown. So we understand why so many CW soldier graves in Grainger County remain un-proven, but we really get excited when we get a photo. Thanks again for your help with this huge project.

RE: Doc Perry
Maybe I am wrong because I just noticed that E (Elkin) S (Shell) "Doc" Perry was born July 24, 1898 not July 24, 1888. I guess I was grasping at straws. E Perry, age 81, was reported as living in Waurika, Jefferson, Oklahoma. When I saw the birthday I jumped the gun but it is ironic and I can't help believe it might be him with the wrong birth year? Thanks for your prompt reply and if you ever decide it is the same person, let me know so I can attach him to his family. Also, I would gladly give you the memorial numbers of his parents. Thanks!

Thank you for the photo
Thank you so much for photographing the grave marker of Dicy Malissy (Acuff) Cardwell (Find A Grave Memorial# 136785562). It is interesting to see just how far a gravestone can disappear in less than a century! I appreciate your effort in getting that photo, and I thank you for your contributions to Find A Grave. -- Laura
