Bio and Links
Bio Photo Genealogy research should be shared. Anyone who wants my pictures or information is welcome to it. I am grateful to those who unselfishly post their findings and pictures and share with others.
I also appreciate the team efforts of findagrave members-those who contribute pictures, obituaries, and family links. I don't mind death certificates on my postings. Not only is this site used to perpetuate the memory of loved ones, but it is also used to help others track their ancestors.
The new edit system is great, but members, please check the requests before you blindly hit Accept. I've caught many errors in these edit requests. Please don't hyphenate last names or ask me to do so. Consider how difficult it is to search for an ancestor with a hyphenated last name.
Feel free to browse my American Revolution and Civil War virtual cemeteries, and leave flowers for these soldiers, as well as the Purple Heart recipients.
And, do we really need copyrights on a headstone picture? How ridiculous! We need to leave our egos at the cemetery gates.

Thank you
Kathy, I wanted to leave a note saying I appreciate your thoughts on your bio. On this awesome site too many are way too uptight. Some seem to bring big egos to the wonderful world of genealogy and project a sense of demagoguery. Yes, we all need to be diligent when posting information, but let's all get to the truth while helping someone with at least a kernel of new info to help find a long lost ancestor.
Happy hunting!

Hi! Thanks for all your work! Could you correct a couple of errors on John Grant Clark's Bio? You have him born 1829, died 1884, which makes him about 55 when he died, not 30 as stated on the Bio. On the 1880 census, he was 51.
Also the Bio lists him as Single, then lists his wife, Mary. She is with him on the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census records, so I don't think they divorced.
Here's his marriage record:
John Grant Clark

in the Virginia, Select Marriages, 1785-1940
Name: John Grant Clark
Gender: Male
Marital Status: Single
Age: 30
Birth Date: 1830
Birth Place: Washington Co., VA.
Marriage Date: 9 Feb 1860
Marriage Place: Washington Co., Virginia
Father: David C. Clark
Mother: Mary Clark
Spouse: Elizabeth Mary Duff
FHL Film Number: 34389
Reference ID: Page 76
Source Information Virginia, Select Marriages, 1785-1940 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Operations, Inc, 2014.

Again, thank you for doing so much-its inevitable mistakes happen.

First Wife
I knew Bob McGregor and his second wife Carrie.

His niece tells me that the first wife was Winnie Evans - she died in childbirth and so did the child.

I cannot find her on Find a Grave and

Later, he married Carrie Offutt a widow at Munday.

He and Carrie moved to Patricia in Dawson County. He died in Dawson County and is buried in Lamesa Cemetery.

John M. Kurtz #104508319
Kathy, I am trying to trace info on this person.
Birth: Mar. 14, 1880 Death: Apr. 6, 1946. He lived in Augusta Ga. at one time and attended Evangilcal Lutheran Church on Greene St. During the time he was here he donated a baptismal font to our church and we were trying to find out more information about him. I noticed that there is a Geneva Kurtz also buried in this cemetary. Must have been his wife. Was wondering if you would have family names or information that we might be able to use to find out more about him?

You can contact me at

Thanks for your help... Donovan Hooks
